There is no doubt the world record is within reach of both Kipchoge and Bekele right now, also Wilson Kipsang in that mix. However to be considered indisputable GOATS all three have to run New York marathon and break the course record or at least come to within 30 seconds of Geoffrey Mutai's course record(2:05:06). Just seen that 2017 London marathon elite list and once again Bekele avoiding competition! Why is Kipsang not in that list, or even the guy who finished 3rd in Berlin(Evans Chebet)? Top Kenyans being sacrificed to help Bekele's( and by extension Ethiopia's) dreams come true? Are Kenyans that gullible?

Doesn't this line of thinking seem completely illogical - "If he can run 7 seconds faster than his current PR in the marathon, he'll be the GOAT. But if he can't manage 7 seconds better, it's still up for debate."
If Kimetto ran 2:03:04 that day, would Bekele already be the GOAT?
A definitive distinction of GOAT is determined based on 7 seconds in one marathon, regardless of the rest of his CAREER accomplishments? It's purely arbitrary. He's the GOAT already.
