Any cycling enthusiasts want to comment? How major of a race is this?

Pathetic desire to win at all costs, even by cheating.
Whats next, racing 10 year olds to ensure a win if you don't feel you identify with your born age?
Never even heard of this race before. If this was running, you could classify it as a Division III level race.
And it is messed up. What next? Is he going to compete in a woman's bikini contest? I'm all for male rights but this is ridiculous.
Old news.
It reads like a fun ride, not a closed course race. It doesn't have to be USA Cycling sanctioned, but it seems to be fun ride.
That said, she/he should join USA Cycling. They love cheats that win at any cost.
I said it many times before. Women will eventually be forced out of athletics. All second tier men will begin to just call themselves women to race and win women's races. Then go home to their wives and children and be happy. It's quite sad actually.
It's not a race, it's a fun ride for hobby-cyclists.
Being a cyclist doesn't make me an expert on gender issues, but my team of Cat 1,2, and 3 men and women is 100% in agreement that biological males have no business competing as females.
Here is a link to the discussion here when the story initially broke.
She's got a lot of balls to be racing as a woman.
Let me guess, PC SJWs will insult, bully and attack anyone who speaks out against this he-she's participation.
Yes?

It's a lot more than just a hobby fun ride.
According to the article, this person had to take a year of testosterone suppression therapy before being allowed to race as a woman. I wonder if this person knows they can appeal to the CAS court and not have to lower their T level if they don't want to. Then they can win some high level women's races, get tons of publicity and be admired for their bravery.
Quite a world we live in. When I was young and first heard the story of the emperors new clothes, I though it was a bit far fetched. But it turns out, people really are willing to say A is B and B is A for the sake of political propaganda.
But, was she HOT?
WHY are women who identify as men allowed to compete without restriction (on T-Levels) against males who must maintain normal T-Levels?

You really think "all" second tier men will do this? Even a majority, or signuficant minority?
It doesn't make sense to call someone a "biological male." Gender is a social construct, not a biological thing. Calling someone a biological male is like calling someone a biological soccer fan.

0/10
That myth was debunked long ago.

It could be a very small minority and women would still be pushed out of elite athletics.
I don't know if dominates is the right word...
The article states, "She beat rival Anna Sparks by just one second..."
As for fairness, "The IOC said the male-to-female athletes should be able to show their testosterone levels were below the cut off point for a full year before the event they want to take part in."

If there are no social, physical or competitive consequences then yes very close to all will do this.
With equal prize money mandated in sports like tennis perhaps even some top tier athletes will do it just to allow for a more aggressive and financially lucrative schedule.
We will probably see a 150th or so ranked golfer or tennis player try to do this in the next couple years, would be extremely financially rewarding for them and as has been stated can still go home to a wife family.
This is not an actual race. Tucson is an island of sorts and there is a big cycling community there so it might play out sort of like a race in front due to the desire for local bragging rights, but that's it.
Strangely enough, the photo of the cyclist being referenced looks an awful lot like Kristin Armstrong at first glance.
USA Cycling may have its head up its arse, but this is not currently an issue...since Tammy Thomas has left anyway.
