Larry Black, North Carolina Central, silver at Munich, 200 meters lost to Ruskie doper Valerie Bhorozov.
Let's correct the NC Central post, with their best Track Olympian:
During the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia, Lee Calhoun won a gold medal for the United States in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.5 seconds. Four years later in Rome, Italy, Calhoun became the first to capture consecutive Olympic gold medals in the 110m hurdles (13.98).
Are you an idiot? Oregon has produced many legendary runners and dominates National Championships.
Here you go, Prefontaine was not the ONLY prominent runner:

Art Dulong. Haven't heard that name in a long time. Guy was a beast. Holy Cross was never great but these days it's an absolute joke. Zero talent

All wonderful responses. UNCC did have Kenyans Julius Sang & Robert Ouku at same time as Larry Black. Making for a powerful 1600 relay team (Penn Relay champ?).
Also, BGSU did have steepler Sid Sink right around time of Wottle.
Great answers tho; one & all.
