What an amazing career. This is a video when I got to see them in Portland for the 2016 World Indoors.

If you want to be taken seriously on this messageboard, you need to spell it "moran". As a rule you should misspell a minimum of two words in a post otherwise you are considered an educated liberal and will open yourself up to attack.
sorry, still lerning the ropes.
thanks bro!
I also don't think this comes as any surprise. It felt like both of them were over it and didn't quite want to be there in Rio.
Very strange...3rd page of comments about athlete retirement and not one baseless and insidious hint at bigger issues.

You can channel competitiveness in many ways, athletics is just one. Who is to say that if he goes to work for Tesla he wouldn't bring the same competitiveness?
Nice sentiment but I don't think he'll get the same rush marketing Teslas IF he could even do so
Does anyone else think this was timed to usurp symmonds' retirement as the biggest US t&f story of the week/young new year?
Nick released his and had a very public spat with Nike- any chance they are getting back at him and his 'marketing'??
As a fan who loved cheering him on, I am sad to see Eaton retire. But I understand that for both he and his wife, they have chosen to end their careers on a high note with medals at Rio and move on to life after athletics, so I wish them well. Congratulations to them both. Eaton really was the world's greatest athlete and the best ever in the decathlon, bar none.

just once I'd like to see a guy write "what a lucky dude, his wife is really smart, kind and accomplished!"
Quick! Find your safe place!
1. multi events are murder on the body, thunderous planting and blocking on one foot, repeat one-sided throws using three different techniques, landing repeatedly on joints including necks and backs for jumps - move over, "football injuries." Just running has less impact than the dec.
2. their coach, Harry Mara, retired
I hate Oregon athletes because they all cheat.
I did not hate Ashton completely. He had an ounce of class unlike his teammates

Maybe the most ridiculous, stupid thing I have ever read on this site, and that says a LOT. I am pretty sure Eatons retirement has absolutely nothing to do with an overhyped classless self promoting clown (who happens to be a damn good 800m runner).

Clearly the LJ (8.23m) and 400 (45.00 pb). The 400h isn't in the decathlon so what's the third?
13.35 110 HH
45.00 and 13.35 may or may not get you past the first heat of a world championship. You'll likely need a big Q in a slow heat. If those are your PR's, you're definitely not world class.
You might get on a non-US/Caribbean relay team for the 400.

How dumb are you? Those are his PRs while training for the decathlon.
He could put up much faster times if he chose to specialize in anyone of those. Eaton's 2014 experiment with the 400h should prove that to you.

Agreed.
She's also 28 and from Humboldt, SK. They will have a baby by next year, mark my words.
Either he's tired or the doping tests are catching up. Ever thought that one through..?

No.
I was just going to ask. The coolest thing about Eaton to me is he's so amazing and the thought of him being a doper DOESN"T EVEN CROSS MY MIND.
With every other great athlete, we're all like "doper." I'd bet money that Bruce Jenner was a doper but if I had to bet my life about Eaton , I'd say no way.
