This is really bad news. I hope other companies don't cave into trump and keep jobs in America.
There is no free market. All governments interfere in the free market for their benefits. Trump is just trying to equalize the playing field. This is why he talks about reworking the trade agreements. He claims they are one-sided with little or no benefit to the US worker. He also claims this is because government official with no experience whatsoever to negotiate trade deals.
People should not view Trump putting pressure on big manufactures to build in the US as Trump being anti-Mexican, racist or anything of the like. Mexico gives sweet deals like cheap land, tax free, breaks on regulations, etc. There is nothing wrong with demanding that car production destined for the US should be built here or taxed. Production destined for Mexico should stay in Mexico. This is common sense. You can thing of this tariff as a co-pay for your well being.
There is currently a race to the bottom in many industries. Companies are moving to cheaper places because their competitors do and they need to match prices. It is just a short term gain. It reduces employment in the US which forces the government to have to interfere even more.
If this was truly a free market, the government would not care about minimum wage, working standards, safety standard, clean air, clear water, housing standards, medical care, etc. It appears like the pendulum has swung too far to one side and Trump got elected to correct it.
