Reddit-style AMAs with athletes and coaches.
I like this idea, the others suck. I also keep come back for running, trolling, and anonymity. PS- I've been entertained hear since either 2000 or 2001.
Update the options for filtering the posts you see on the message board. Right now there are only a few options and they don't even cover all of the available topics. I would especially LOVE an "everything except non-running" option. That alone would make this site 8X better.
A 90 second edit function. If you make a mistake or typo, you have 90 seconds to edit your post. Another forum I'm on has this feature.
Registration. That would enable editing and you could build threads and keep the first post current. That would be great option for training diaries, advice etc.
Less ads and no ads that break the content.
Better moderation and proper use of subforums.
More pictures of teenage boys.
Already a few saying update the software. But reading between the lines of the recent Outside magazine article it seems yall are just cheap and don't really want to invest too much cash in the site. And perhaps you don't think you will get much return on that investment?
Free upgrades i'd like:
- Organize the homepage into something... anything, as long as it's consistent.
- Consistent moderation based on clear board rules.
- Quit using parenthesis so much. It's a crutch for the writer (73:30HM PR) who's churning out a article (on a short deadline), but hard for the reader (chunky sentences and poor flow). Things can (usually) be reworded (restructured) to avoid them and increase clarity.
Ok, those are my pet peeves. Congrats on a record year and ever improving content!

It's the New Year and a good opportunity to open it up to you all to see what you want to see from LetsRun.com in 2017.
What new things should we try and do? What should we do better? It's an open thread.
Thanks to all of you for making 2016 a great year for us.
A separate page for political posts.
Some of my suggestions:1. Regarding the political and other non-running threads - take a page out of bodybuilding.com on this. From the front page, instead of leading you directly, separate all the sub-forums before you can start to access threads. When you click "World Famous Message Boards", the first thing you should notice is a list of sub forums, not a list of different threads. I'll give a few examples of how to divide this up:
There should be no threads listed other than the last post of the last thread from each sub-forum. When you click the general categories, what will be listed first should be each sub-forum but once the list is complete is when you can start to list threads. Also note which sub-forum each thread is coming from. The moment you are able to see threads only is when you actually go into the sub forums. Additionally, any thread that is categorized incorrectly is to be recategorized or removed asap (the latter especially for non-running threads posted in the running forums).
2. Reddit-Style AMA's would be great but limit this to running-related discussion only.
Arguably one of the best things about that site was that you had very credible people actually answering questions from the base users of the forum. However, Reddit is a general discussion website with lots of sub-forums. LetsRun is running-specific and in turn, not only should AMA's be kept to running related topics, but should also be in the related sub-forum. Galen Rupp AMA? Pro Discussion. Renato Canova AMA? Training. Race Director AMA? Races of Interest. This is unless you want to create an AMA sub-forum within the Main Forums in which only moderators and people with permission can create a thread in and there is a two day window for thread responses (anyone can respond of course).
My one wish would be the ability to block certain users so that I don't have to ever have any exposure to their constant spamming
In other words, the ability to BLOCK JAMIN

You can register a username now.
Show the name of the person who last replied to a thread, instead of the person who started the thread.

Little hard to read this and obviously more professional looking but a new, more organized home page. Sorry, only had microsoft paint to work with. And not even necessarily this kind of layout, I just feel like all the articles on the homepage could be organized better
I think the sub-forums idea is dumb. The real gems are those "cute girl in the coffee shop studying MCAT" threads. Everyone goes here for training threads, but you get drawn to the random ones. Sub forums would ruin that element.
Jamin should be given his own sub-forum into which all his posts are placed.
