Your post is not reflected by the facst. The site is enjoying a record year. Think about this for a moment. We are about to hit our 8 millionth post. That will happen early in 2017. So we are at 7.9 million . 5 years ago , we were only at 4.4 million.
The forum software is in think 13 years old. But in the last 5 years, we've produced 3.5/7.9 million posts. That's 57% of the posts have come in just the last 5 years.
I've been around since the beginning. I know the site 'seemed' bigger in the early days as the Internet was new but there was hardly anyone on here. Now it's WAY bigger.
I've got a buddy who has a few friends who come to the site who aren't even runners. He says they claim it's the only place they can be honest about politics and where they'll get both sides of the issue.
Thanks for the reply, rojo. I'm the one that started this thread, and I have been here at LRC since close to the beginning (around 2001). I've watched it grow, and I agree with much of what you've stated here.
I'm wondering though, if you have any stats on how many unique posts have been started here. LRC has a lot of regulars. This is a good and bad thing at the same time. You have a core group that ensures the board never stops ticking over with new posts, but at the same time I wonder how much smaller that 7.9 million number you quote would be if you only counted unique hits. This isn't a knock on the site at all - I'm truly interested in the stats, and I know that you likely have this number. All website tracking code includes this feature. Would you care to share it?
