Yes, it's "nice" weather for most people but as long as I have a place to run I'm happy as a clam. I'd much rather make 220,000-240,000 in my average cost living state than 200,000 in a California city that costs 50% more in living costs, making my hypothetical income in California worth 133,000.

In other words, my "real" income in our normal-sized state would be 73% more.

Got loans to pay (less than the average for young professionals in my field to be fair due to frugality and consistent investing) and future kids to support. Dollar dollar bill ya'll.

I've been in San Francisco for probably a total of 20 days also, Sacramento for a few days, and happiness is also dictated by your state of mind.

Sacramento CA is the best-kept secret of this thread and thankfully nobody is mentioning it. Reasonable cost of living by CA standards, fantastic weather, diversity/culture/food/beer/coffee/running/recreation off the charts. No or minimal SF/LA/SD dueschebags. Only problem with Sacramento is that it is ground zero for the govt imbeciles ruining the state slowly but sure with financial commitments that nobody will be able to pay.

3rd sunniest city in the country tho not today (yep, 2nd day in a row of rain, everyone is going crazy)

Even when it rains it's still 60 degrees outside here in L.A. Where you live S U C K S I know.

It still doesn't beat FL. Warm pretty much year round, no state taxes, and plenty of gators in the swamps.

Wow. What a dud. NFL teams have players and coaches who live and train mostly in Southern California so who cares who wins since they all go back home to Southern California during the off season and when they get cut. The Super Bowl was invented by Hollywood TV guys in 1967.
