I'm surprised she wasn't fired sooner. She overstepped her boundaries on many occasions. Physical, Verbal altercations with distance runners on the team. School was also involved and possible title 9 violations as well. No brainier...she was let go
Don't know if those accusations are true about Coach Slekis but I will say this, kids are soft these days.
It's a shame how much softer kids are and how much more entitlement there is.
Coaches gotta be careful on how hard they are on kids this days. It's ridiculous.
Examples?
She overstepped her boundaries on many occasions??
Physical, Verbal altercations with distance runners on the team??
School was also involved and possible title 9 violations??
Is this real news, did she really get let go?
volunteer coach is the only coach listed on XC staff on their website
She did just have a child. She may have chosen to be a stay at home mom.
Having said that, she has spent a lot of scholarship money on distance runners in recent years and hasn't really gotten great results. Some decent results here and there, but not a good return for the reaources they've been spending on distance runners.
Lastly, she may have just been a scapegoat for the terrible results they've been producing as an overall program.
Trump... " you're fired! "
The VA takes over at N Texas?
The VA is Colby Lowe. Quality runner, good guy. Probably takes over

Except they might want a female since she was the only one in the staff. Sorry Colby reality sucks sometimes

Not true on the female part
Get real...I coach in the South Central, and while I know UNT's results are mediocre, I think most would agree the potential is there.
North Texas is a Division I FBS school. Are they going to get KD or Spangler? No...
But will they have to settle for the unpaid male assistant of the former coach who got sub par results? No...
They will get plenty of applications from more qualified canidates, who have full time paid experience and success. If UNT settles for a former voulenteer it is because they want someone to work with zero scholarships and lacks the audacity to ask for support.

Most of what you're saying is true, except for one thing, and that's because you aren't in the know. stay tuned
KD to North Texas!
Why not? He grew up in Fort Worth and went to TCU for college. It'd be coming home for him.

Any word on what is happening at Amherst? It has been posted since Hitler's birthday.
Texas will make a change this week.
The only question is if anyone on staff will be retained or will administration clean house?
Univ of Washington's men scored 0 points and did not qualify for the Cross Country national meet. Their women scored 5 points and placed 12th in Cross. It's hard to imagine everyone is safe in Seattle.
Arizona State had one female thrower score all 21 points for the women and scored 1 point on the men's side. Kraft was a great coach once, but I would not be surprised if they made a change.
Not everyone cares where the points come from. 21 at nationals is 21 more than alot of programs. Why does it matter what event group it is? And cross is only 1/3 of the season so poor performance there doesnt always mean anything.
