Is that so?

Calling it now. Mario out at Texas officially, and yes, the week of Regionals at his Facility!
Can't substantiate it but word is that if indeed Mario is out, then it will cause a domino effect, with Floreal going to Texas & Robert Johnson of Oregon going to Kentucky...personally, I'll believe it when I see it...
I highly doubt all of the above.
What I do believe is when Mario leaves, UT will promote tonja to head. Sevin will go to A&M. Mario may then go to UCLA. Khadevis will go to UCLA or UF.
Can anyone in the Pacific Northwest say anything about why Trish Steidl, the coach at DIVISION I Seattle University hasn't been canned yet? Granted they're in a crappy conference (the WAC), and that they don't even have a track, but for a D1 school not to qualify anyone for the NCAA regionals is unacceptable...I don't even think that they're the third best college track & field program in the city of Seattle, and there are several D2 schools in Washington that would clean their clocks.
Or is it that their administration doesn't give a rat's ass about the team, & are happy to have a team to maintain D1 status for basketball?
As of now, SeattleU isn't even a decent D2 team.
That program could do better.

Because She is a women head coach.
What did Steidel do to you? Or do you just want her job...
Expensive school, less than a full complement of scholarships, no facilities.
SU does all right in the WAC in cross country. I am not saying she has it any harder than Tyson did initially at Gonzaga, but I am saying it would be rash to assume there are experienced coaches who could do a lot better just waiting for their chance. I think the admin knows it is an unideal situation and they are happy with the modest results and XC success as they try to no avail to build a basketball team to get them a bid in the WCC.
Valid points. Well said. Lots of similar (less than ideal) situations like you describe. If, however, the admin knows it's not ideal, I'd be shocked. They might not care. They might be satisfied. Most of them have no clue about our sport.
This was posted the day after Maynard resigned. "We have already started interviewing candidates"
Has there been some big name waiting in the wings?

This is exactly what I heard.
Well, maybe SeattleU should've thought about that when they went to D1. They just got rid of their basketball coach who allegedly was a pretty good recruiter.
SeattleU's best hope is for them to catch fire in basketball and make a NCAA tournament if they ever want to improve their track/XC programs. It's obvious that their administration doesn't give a rip.
I'll give you that SeattleU is expensive to get into.
Pat Tyson at Gonzaga had credibility among the state's HS coaches; as a matter of fact, so does Patty Ley on the women's side. Not sure if I'm a HS coach that I'd send anyone to the Steidls. I'd go as far as to say that only their multis/field event coach is solid
I still contend their track/XC program isn't a decent D2 program. Seattle Pacific's women, and Western Washington would clean their clocks.
I think Coach Johnson will be landing much farther west than Lexington!
Johnson to Texas
The question is what distance oriented coach with multiple CC national championships would be interested in going to Oregon.
Andy Powell would likely take over the Head Coach role, if he didn't want it. Then Curtis Taylor.
Vin is the associate athletic director over track and field. He would play a very large role in selecting the new coach. Andy has been his guy since 2005. Don't see that changing now.
fresh rumor...UCLA after an SEC head coach.
