Are there any benefits to getting a strength and conditioning certification ?

If you want to oversee anything in the weightroom, yes.
When I took the US Track Coaches Association S&C course, at least 3/4 of the class were college fb and t&f coaches who needed the cert to oversee and implement strength programs for their athletes. The NCAA now requires they be certified.

I had a similar proportion in my class. And also, perhaps more to the point, the class was really helpful.

Augustana College. Tough to follow a LEGEND.
Agreed. Anything Boo does is outstanding and well worth a coach's time.

Rule #1 Never spread rumors that are factually untrue. Darrell never used his athletes as pawns, the administration was told by those athletes they were transferring before ever talking to him. The minute the administration informed the team of the coaching change, the so called threat was issued by the athletes. It was never a threat though, it was a statement of fact. In the end, the kids transferred BEFORE Darrell's fate was even decided.
Just wanted to set the record straight since you clearly know nothing about what really happened.
Well the often asked about Maryland throws job has been filled

Highly doubtful since most XC coaches are assistant T&F coaches and most coaches' contracts go to mid summer
Western Kentucky is gonna have a spot open... RIP
"most coaches' contracts go to mid summer"
False. "most" coaches sign salary agreements - not contracts - and are at will, meaning they can be fired at any time.
Who are the leading contenders to replace Paul Olsen at Augustana? Will there be a ton of applicants or will people shy away from having to follow someone who was there 52 years and seems to be extremely beloved by the school and alumni?

Great to hear from you, Darrell. We aren't blaming you for trying that tactic. But it just doesn't work.

I've heard Augie's David Thompson to WIU. That'd be a great hire for them and allow David the chance to coach men again.
