Also heard Maric from UVA is being considered. Might be a big move for LSU, load up on the throws side.

Why would he leave all those good throwers and that program that will be a dumb move for him if he does that

Definitely! Also, to go to a school that won't allot him the scholarship aid to sign great throwers. He's a great coach so I'm sure he would be able to make it work, but would eventually get frustrated with the system in place.
Money? I can't imagine ACC pays as much as SEC.
2016-2017 UVA online public salaries database.
-BRYAN FETZER Head Coach, Track & Field-TFDH University of Virginia $118,180.00
-MICHAEL MORGAN Assistant Coach, Track & Field University of VirI ginia $69,783.00
-PETER WATSON Assistant Coach, Track & Field University of Virginia $67,531.00
-MARIO WILSON Assistant Coach, Track & Field University of Virginia $56,277.00
-MARTIN MARIC Assistant Coach, Track & Field University of Virginia $54,637.00
That can't be flattering, Maric is on the bottom of UVA Track totem pole. I'd say that'd be more frustrating than # of scholarships. Unless he's bumped to Associate Head Coach this year, or LSU pays even less. So it wouldn't be that dumb of a move.

eat shhht. Give him real advice. Jerk0ff
Maryland throws job only pays 33k? Living near Washington DC that might as well be called an internship.
Those figures include only state money not private athletic department supplements. Many state universities have this set up.
I have heard from good sources all UVA assistant coaches make the same and the figure was right at $90,000 after last years results.

Yeah its not really a power 5 job
Your sources might be embarrassed to tell you the truth. As someone who's been coaching in ACC for many years I can tell you exactly who makes how much, and those are the exact figures, maybe few Ks on bonuses which are the same for all, so he'd still be payed the least. No one ever made 90k at UVA except the top guy, especially not the throws coach. There's a reason why good throws coaches like Lane who left that place not that long ago, and Maric will too. They're putting all the money in distance, as you can see from the figures above. It's surprising not to see Maric bumped up to associate head like it's been done before by Georgia and VT for instance, since all the points come from throws. Or maybe he doesn't mind being the waterboy.
If I was a parent of a kid looking into UVA, I'd look somewhere else in ACC. FSU, Miami or even VT, even though they might have made a mistake by letting Jack go. Send your kids to a school where you feel confident the coach will stay for more than a year or two.
Maryland's coach was a great guy. Had pleasure knowing him for more than a decade. NCAA needs more guys like that.
Not every school can offer full rides and if they do and are an established program not every school has a full ride left to give!
have something to sell

As speculated on here, Clemson promoted Cobey from Director of Ops to Throws position he once had before. Can only guess they are putting the throws on the back burner. Sad...
Get all the certifications you can
rumor is jacksonville state in alabama will need a throwsjumps coach
Parker cowles hired as distance coach for south Alabama. Why do all these distance coaches look like 17 yr old computer geeks. tisk

Certifications get you nothing but more knowledge. Has not made it difficult for me to get a head coaching job over the past 20 years!

And knowledge does not = understanding. That's a big fact, Jack.
See this is whats wrong with letsrun. So you guys advice is to not get certifications? How does it help a young coach to imply that certifications don't matter? They can volunteer coach and get certifications at the same time. And the knowledge does not=understanding argument is just not smart. If thats the case, why go to any form of school at all?
