You are probably right. However, in 28 years he'll be kicking himself in the a$$ for not taking this job.

Or maybe an assistant who has worked at big programs and is even doing well as a paid assistant at said school or mid majors. Doesn't have to be a volunteer or a GA. Plenty of younger assistants would take a chance with this program. GAs and volunteers are not getting jobs like they use to.

Like previously mentioned, the job will most likely go to a younger coach, who was either a GA or volunteer at a bigger school. I've seen in so many times in all my years in this sport and I'm certain that is what will happen.

Ain't that the truth.
You're an idiot.

What about Auburn as well? Earlier rumors have McGregor from Samford moving down the road to Auburn. Any truth?
Heard McGregor was the hire at Auburn. Guess we'll wait for official press release.
A pension and full healthcare benefits of life after 30 years of service are important to some. As a state employee of NC, he'll qualify for these benefits. He should get on this train now instead of later. An idiot doesn't present sound logic.

While all of the financial aspects sound logical, is it truly logical for Van Hoy to take a step down from the stage he's on currently? I mean put your bias aside for a moment and realize it isn't in his career's best interest to go from Ole Miss to UNCC. That is not a lateral move by any means for him.
Source?

How much do you think UNCC pays?
I don't know if the coach gets any supplement on top of the state salary but the state salary is between 45,000-50,000. But I am just an idiot what do I know.
This says Gibby made $44,000http://www.newsobserver.com/news/databases/public-salaries/

After the slight salary increase for 2017/18 it will be a little over 45,000.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't most of these "younger Assistants" you speak of have to start their career as a volunteer or GA?
Life is good for Coach Geiger at NC State. He is pulling in 125,000 in salary and probably this much if not more in summer XC camps.
This could be you Ryan if you come back to NC.

If I'm Ryan, I'm embarrassed by all these fan bois trying to jerk me off... Anyhow, something tells me if he really wants what you're talking about, Chapel Hill would much rather have a successful SEC coach than a successful nobody school coach take over.
What exactly has Vanhoy done to even be a head coach on the DI level? Not much! But for some reason his former teammates are in this board just hyping him up! He has no resume to be a DI head coach!

Absolutely yes. But I would hope UNCC wouldn't hire a coach out of a recent GA ship or volunteering for a year or two. Plenty of younger coaches who have 5 to 10 years experience that would want an opportunity like this.

Well that's makes sense, and those who are VA/GAs could replace the person who gets the UNCC position I'm assuming that's how it should work
