Ty Griffin WILL be new distance coach at Kent State as of Monday the 6th.

what happened with the utrgv opening?

Coastal Carolina track is in rough shape. They have a handful of extremely talented distance women with the help of Zola Budd. Their sprinting on both the men's and women's side is a complete joke. If I were coastal I would cut the men's program and just focus solely on women's distance. As a new addition to the SunBelt, coastal sports are excelling with the only exception being men's xc, and men's track. Embarrassing.

How do you feel about this hire? I read his bio, but not sure what exactly he has done for his current program himself.

Just saw on Facebook that coach Grimes at Texas A&M has stepped down. Great coach.

Where did Grimes go?

As a side note, I have been looking at many staff pages and have seen "Sports Performance Coach" listed as a member of staff. Is this just a way to Church up that you area weight room and drill jockey for the team?

"I would like to announce my resignation as Assistant Track & Field Coach at Texas A&M University. Thank you to Coach Henry and the staff at A&M for the tremendous opportunity we were given four years ago when we came to College Station. As much as I love coaching, I now find it necessary to press pause, to take a step back from coaching for a time for the good of my family and for the benefit of myself.

The most difficult part of this decision is that I consider the athletes I coach to be family, so it’s tremendously difficult to leave them at this time. However, I will remain their most ardent fan as they continue to pursue their goals.

I plan to evaluate future opportunities in and out of the coaching field while focusing on the health and welfare of my family. My wife Tami and our three children have always been my biggest supporters and now I’m choosing to devote myself to being a husband and father to those who mean the most to me.

They have already tried, but NAACP went after them from what I have heard.

But their sprinters have not been bad. Really good hurdlers and 400 runners for their conference.

Kent State Staff is made up of tons of Mount Union people...all about who you know....

There is still no report about Croghan leaving Kent State. Can whoever made up this rumor admit to it?
