Is this a teaching position only? Or coaching as well?

Wow...
This can't be Cole's position at Air Force--
1) The XC coach for a successful team in an area as expensive as Colorado Springs has to make more than $50k--right?
2) Their women made XC last year...has any other military school ever done that?
3) You obviously sell high, and I imagine Cole is thought highly of, but what other DI head track or XC job has opened up that he would be a qualifier for (and that he would actually want)?
Am I wrong?
Well having autonomy is probably a must. And he would probably go back to a power-5. So Auburn? Back to ASU? Maybe he wants to be head coach at a smaller school.
UNF coach would be a great hire at Auburn he has good experience and has done a nice job at UGA and UNF. Samford coach has like. 6 months experience and it looked like he did not bring anyone in for the class of 2017. Can he coach? Can he recruit? Yeah yeah he had a miler but she was pretty good before he got there.
Why would Pigg (UNF) depart a HEAD gig to return as an assistant to the SEC?
He will return to the SEC as a HEAD coach very soon.
Pigg has done some, but there are plenty of young hungry coaches in the Region that have shown they know what they're doing and would embrace an opportunity at Auburn or a power-5
Just want the best for Auburn young or old there are great coaches aroound the country. Samford coach is not the guy to turn around an Auburn team with few recruits. Auburn was 10th out of 12 in XC and 9th out of 14 on the women. Not very high

Why isn't he the guy? Because he's a young coach? Every old coach was a young coach once. How can you become a veteran if you're not given a chance. The truth is a lot of young coaches are coming up in the ranks and will become the future veterans. Don't bash them, pass the torch.
He will do great!
Does the women's indoor 1500 champ go with him?

Doubtful Samford would release her to an in-state rival.
If this is true they should release her. This would be her 4th college coach in 4 years. Garbage program.

Terms of her NLI clearly state that she is signing with the institution not with the coach.
The Samford head coach has been there for years.
The director may have been there for 6 years. The distance coach (her direct coach) has not. Universities care a lot about athlete experience. I can't imagine it has been a great one for her.Stand - 2015Ondrasek - 2016McGregor - 2017??? - 2018

Football assistant coaches come and go; do you think the players or the administration cares if a player loses his position coach?
Yes, if a player had a new position coach each of their 4 years. That would absolutely be a red flag. Bad continuity, looks bad for the head coach, and bad for the university.

Plus this ain't football! It's all about student wellbeing in the non-revenue sports!
1)if she wants to transfer Samford has the moral obligation to release her
2) if they don't (which they will) she can apeal and would certainly win.
That said, maybe she doesn't even want to transfer or can't based on where she is in school.
Back to jobs!
Good for Louie.
He never was given much money to work with. Kraft has not paid attention to the distance program.
The success that Louie has had given so little is testamount to his coaching abilities and rapport he has with his athletes.
ASU may want to think about getting Kraft out. Kraft comes across as non approachable.
XC/Distance position filled at ORU. Announcement coming soon, but athletes have been notified.
That job is Kraft's until he retires in the next few years. But yes, going with Rasmussen is a statement about his prioritization level of the distances.

Don't expect Samford to feel sorry for the girl. She just won a national title. Clearly the coaching changes haven't hurt her performance, and she certainly can't complain about coaching changes hurting her performance.
The previous coach did well, but when you are returning a national champion you're going to get a really experienced applicant pool. They can probably hire someone with more experience than the previous coach.
