The program continues to go in the wrong direction. Although from what I hear the new guy has been writing every workout from day one because the track coach doesn't have a clue about distance. His track programs continue to decline too. How long until he runs his third cross country coach out of the program or the AD realizes how much talent he wastes as a coach?

I thought maybe you all were exaggerating the lack of experience. You were not. No man would ever get a job - anywhere - with this resume. I give it 3 years and she is moving on to something else and that program is run into the ground by Smith.
This hire is fine, get over yourself. You need to consider the role that Smith wants her to play. Obviously Smith is going to be writing all the workouts and doing all the "big" stuff. He wasn't looking for someone with a great resume to come in and butt heads with him regarding workouts and training philosophies.
He has a vision for the future of the program and he needs help implementing it. This girl is going to be on board w/ Smith 100%. The program will either do well or collapse and it's all on Smith and his vision/training.
The Hanover job was talked about last summer. They are a nobody team with a nobody coach. They've hosted nationals a few times. Mostly because the old coach was tied into the NCAA. The course is not a national level course. The best coach they had left for a better job to get out of the sticks after one year. Good luck to anyone that wants to coach there.

Aren't most jobs nobody teams with nobody coaches?
Finally someone making some sense on here. 900 programs in this country and all you ever hear about are those in the Top 5% or so.
I've actually been to Hanover College. Beautiful place, good school, outside quaint little town along the Ohio River. Close to Appalachia and Cincinnati. Seems like a cool place to me. They hired an alumni--I say good for him and good for them!
Akron makes an interesting hire. I like it.

are there any coaching positions at the DII level that make more than 15k a year? or at least have benefits? It's pretty pathetic.

Texas A&M-Commerce pays their head dude $60,000
Tarleton State pays $63,000+
Texas A&M-Kingsville pays $98,000+
I have heard that Coastal may be hiring Zola as the Head Men and Women's cross country coach. The administration apparently has their short list and should be making calls this week....or at least soon. Early indications would be someone with more of a track linkage but who knows. Anyone have additional rumors to share?
seems like the easy and smart hire since they will drop the men's program within the next five years after the move to big time college football.

She may move to Head M/W XC coach, but who will be Director of T&F/XC (her boss)?
I always thought that the director job belonged to Amber Campbell whenever she wanted it. Now would be the time, and Zola could take over xc
Isn't Zola being deported for by Trump, for tripping Mary Decker in 1984 ?
15k a year for DII coaches? Where do you get your information? I am a DII coach and make 51k a year and my assistant makes 32k a year.
I get this info from my paycheck as a head cross coach at DII institution

Is that real life? Yikes..why are you still there. At the pay range may as well move to a JUCO. You will make more there depending on school.

Anyone have any insight into which event group Mount Union is hiring for?
So, will Coach Wims be coaching their Cross country program? Or, do the Athletics administraton plan on hiring a distance oriented coach? I saw they had a few girl compete in the KMS invite last weekend. Curious to see what the deal is here.
