The idea of rating people? Wherever would anyone in an Ivy League school get that idea? Was it maybe from the Princeton University admissions and PR department, which live off of rating individuals and publicizing Princeton's ratings? And which is most absurd, rating the perceived looks of individuals, the academic ability and future potential in life of high school seniors, or the academic quality of an entire college or university?
I'd say that it is completely obvious that it is far easier to arrive at a consensus on looks, where the criteria and object to be rated are quite clear, than on a consensus concerning the ability and academic potential of students or a consensus on a university where criteria are in dispute, differences in accepted criteria change the order of schools ranked, and what is to be rated is essentially a set of heterogeneous professors, departments, courses, and facilities.
