Could it be Galen Rupp? Not many faster than him, and I'm sure between prize money/appearance fees/Nike stock he has over $1B by now.
Do you have any idea how much money that is? According to Forbes, there are only around 1800 billionaires in the world. I can assure you Galen Rupp is not one of them.

Did zuck really do a 5:53/mile? I ran the SF marathon like a sad hobbyjogger, but my first half split was way better than his 2:05 half (he did the first half this year)
Where are you guys seeing his
It was in a Facebook post he made earlier this year:
https://www.facebook.com/zuck/posts/10102963920646061Jack Dorsey runs 3 miles a day. Charles Ergen has climbed all of Colorado's 14ers.
^ anecdotal. First certified result beats him. If there are any.
Rojo...
Even out of shape, you know how much money he makes off the idiots like me who post on this site?
If PewDiePie makes $10 mill a year on youtube, Rojo makes serious bitcoin.
Plus, now that Trump is prez he'll hide it all in some Cayman account and never pay a dime in taxes.
Sure I have Google on my interwebs too
Looks like it wasn't even on a track and was probably done with a cell phone?
All I know is he was spent July 31 running the first half of the SF marathon with somebody else's bib in 2:05
That sounds like 7:00 territory to me no?
I've got some iPhone crazy Strava splits too
Ouija board told me that my net worth will be 5.4 billion by the age of 34. 100% confident that will happen. Current track 5k best: 15:23. I should be among the ranks of fastest billionaires here in the next 12 years.
2:03:08, under a semi-pseudonym. Check race photos on that bib
Whoops
Bib:23150
Not sure if he was a billionaire at the time, but Mick Jagger was supposedly a pretty devoted runner when in his 40s and 50s.
Never mind, he's only worth $300 million.
So here's the list of billionaires if anyone wants to research their running backrounds. http://www.forbes.com/billionaires/list/3/#version:static
Even though MJ is over 50, I'd still pick him as top 5.
Realistically, I think you just have to look at the list by youngest to oldest, and it has to be one of the youngest people. The youngest billionaire according to Forbes is 22 yo. Even if you aren't a runner or athlete, you still have a huge advantage at that age.
Lame/boring answer, but I think that is probably the most accurate.
Serious answer. Wes edens runs about a 19 minute 5k and his daughter is around a 5 flat miler running for Princeton.
FYI Oprah was not a billionaire in 1994. Not even close.
She did NOT make Forbes 400 in 1994 (list included many non billionaires).
and this article estimates her net worth at 340 million in 1995.
http://www.investopedia.com/articles/insights/072816/how-did-oprah-winfrey-get-rich.asp
Are we using 1995 or 2016 dollars in this hypothetical? Inflation was still running pretty good in the 90s no early 00s..
What are you smoking? Not only is 1 billion dollars more than the budget given to USATF, but you seriously think Galen has more money than Usain Bolt? Usain isn't even worth 1/10th of a billion, and he is the Godfather of Track and Field.
Morgan Pearson might be the winner if you count family wealth. His dad is former CEO of Valeant Pharmaceuticals and he's been running well (just got 3rd at Club XC and won the Silicon Valley Turkey Troy of 13:32).
This thread is so unimaginative, Americentric, and accidentally racist. For starters a few years back you would say Richard Branson or one of those fashion house billionaires but now there are a pile of young Asian tech start up billionaires (or their children) surely one of then can run reasonably quickly. We all seem to be forgetting the sons of the African dictators/war lords surely one of them is pretty quick.
Maybe Floyd Mayweather Jr. with all his winnings.
