You guys are well informed... For liberals that is. 80+ percent of this nations citizens identify themselves as Christians. Just because you've insulated yourself, doesn't mean we're not a Christian nation.
Stuff like this is why I laugh when I hear people whining about the "War on Christmas." Christians think the world should revolve around them and their religion and then cry when it doesn't.
By the way, I am not a liberal.

Then shouldn't Christmas holiday's just be cancelled? Create a few new non-secular statutory holidays to replace it, maybe in January. Then if someone wants to celebrate Christmas because they are Christian, they can take a vacation day, rather than turning a religious holiday into some weird shopping carnival.
You mean create secular holidays? Well I am a Pastafarian and I want a public holiday for my religion. Why can't I have that? Why is your religion sponsored by the government and mine isn't?

Great, and that's why we have a constitution, because the majority isn't always correct.
If 80% of the nation chooses to believe in fairy tales, that doesn't mean the other 20% should have to suffer from it.

Where on earth did you get the notion that the word holidays needed an apostrophe? It wasn't a possession or a contraction.
For the millionth time, just because a word ends in an s does not mean it needs an apostrophe! This drives me crazy!
I'm still furious that Starbucks took Jesus off their cups. God didn't send his only son, who was actually himself, disguised as someone else down to the planet on a suicide mission to free the rest of us for this!
I say good riddance, put up your religious bull$hit in your own private space. I don't understand why anyone would feel offended by a stupid poster or a tree or any other holiday symbol in the first place but since I don't care about religion I like the idea of doing away with as much of it as possible.

Yes, sorry. Secular holidays. Because you are going backward in time. Christmas holidays were made and they were religious and state sponsored. People now say it's not ok for a holiday to be religious, so my point is, then do away with the holiday don't change it into something it was not. No other religion would change their religious observances into something new just so it is accessible to all. If people want Christmas off, let them take a vacation day. Same with your invented "religion" to mock religions. You want to invent a religious holiday, take a vacation day.

Yes, it's very tragic that you can't shove your religious beliefs and favored bible verses down the throats of our sinful public school students.
People who get outraged by innocuous religious displays on public property are annoying. People who get outraged by the primacy of separation of church and state are dangerous.

Found one. Thank you for identifying yourself.

What do you think Christmas is? It's only a holiday because people celebrate the birth of Christ. That's why the Christmas holidays exist. You take the days off - why? (Yes, this year it's Sunday). If you are against being forced to celebrate a religious holiday or the state enshrining one, then isn't the answer that it just needs to stop? No more stat holidays for religious observances.
My neighbors daughter was commenting this weekend that their not allowed to have Christmas decoration's in the school any more. Sad.
I don't see any signs of anyone ever stopping anyone else from celebrating Christmas in their own terms.
Christmas is a federal holiday that is called "Christmas".
Christmas is celebrated on December 25th.
Decorating your work space in the days leading up to Christmas is not actually celebrating Christmas, which is a single day.
So having someone take down a Christmas decoration is not stopping them from celebrating Christmas.
Now that being said, I don't know why they are making a big deal asking people to take down Christmas decorations in school. But I celebrate Christmas. (actually I celebrate Santa, not Christ)
I do understand that some kids don't get a visit from Santa or celebrate Christmas at all.
So it could be a hard time of year to be forced to see all of this Christmas stuff and wonder why you don't deserve a visit from Santa.

But you see it doesn't work like that, your religion has just as much evidence as mine. Just because yours has more followers makes it no more correct in estimating what will happen after death. And that may not work to give everyone a religious holiday whenever requested as some religions consider life to be sacred and will request to never go to work. It would be better if we all kept our own religious holidays to ourselves. We could introduce a Winter solstice holiday where everyone could take time off of work and celebrate.

Yeah, I always suspected that Charlie Brown characters were religious tyrants.
I don't have a big dog in this fight, but the anti-religious expression folks do strike me as intolerant in this case.

Not sure about the Santa thing, but I know there was an obese guy at the Nativity--you know, Round John Virgin.

We are a nation that is populated with all kinds of people free to practice the religion of their choice. That the nation is 80% anything doesn't matter when it comes to public activities.
I want to be free to believe and practice those beliefs. Don't take away my freedom by promoting our religion in public school.

Why? Why just Christmas? I don't get it - if any other religion wants to celebrate their religious holidays, nobody is going to stop them or argue that their holidays must be inclusive.
Jewish resentment of Xmas is why.
Christmas is largely a cultural holiday. It is a minor religious holiday for Christians, kind of like Hanukkah is for Jewish people. For religious Christians, the year revolves around Easter.
