Kipchoge - please don't do the sub 2 project

A lot of crybabies here. Do you think it's really this little publicity stunt that's going to ruin the sport? There not much left in the sport and everyone has been out for themselves for decades. Some athletes are being thrown money at to get behind this project and you are suggesting they turn that down because of some weak ethical reasons? STFU

Nike is probably guaranteeing each of these guys 2x what they would earn if they won two major marathons this coming year (plus appearance fees). They probably got an offer they could not refuse. So why be upset that he (and his family) are probably being financially rewarded for his lifetime of training? I'm happy for him, and hope he puts on a good show in the attempt to break 2.

This is an entire thread from folks that are clueless.

Kipchoge is a Nike athlete. This means that his decisions on when and where to race are decided by Nike. He signed over his rights to make this decision.

Come on, why would he pass up the chance to run a 2:04 downhill for millions of dollars?

I hope Kipchoge does not run this ridiculous artificial attempt. However he may be offered so much money by Nike to do this that he finacncially has to. Running is not a hobby for him, it is his job and he has a very short window to make money that may last him for the rest of his life.

This entire thing is an advertising ploy by Nike, nothing less, but the result will be absolutely meaningless to any to the true running class of people who care about the pure act of running unaided by PEDs or in this case by an artificial environment. And who knows perhaps some specially devised running shoes that would not be allowed in a "normal" sanctioned race..
