I think this kid could be a tremendous addition to a distance oriented program (such as Wisconsin). He has some more physical maturing to do, and will likely only get stronger. He is efficient, and has good form. I would take him on a serious cross country team in a minute.
I am not persuaded one way or another by his track times. My guess is that he could run a 9 minute two mile right now under decent conditions. He is too fit not to do it. I lived in Omaha for a couple of years many years back, and remember the only warm or decent day during high school track season was the day of the state meet. Competition is light in Nebraska, so again, I think comparing his track performances to those, let's say, in suburban Dallas is a bit misleading.
