Anyone else like the generics better? (I'm a creamy guy, too.)

My wife and I buy a lot of the generics from Kroger. Why? It's made by the same companies.
Kroger used to have a list available online of who made their generic items. Their peanut butter was made by the same company that makes Jif. Their "maple syrup" by same company that does Aunt Jemima and so on and so on. Their were a few generic items that we tried where it was like "Um, no way are we getting this again"...can't remember at the moment what all of them were, but their spaghetti sauce was pretty bad.
I enjoy the generic ones that only consist of peanuts and salt (and oil that rises to the top)
Peter Pan creamy is the real deal. Word !
Teddy Peanut Butter for the win.

I almost flipped my desk when I saw that you claimed Aunt Jemima made maple syrup, but then I saw the quotes so I'm ok now.
My wife gives me shit for buying generics, but some of them are actually just as good if not better than the branded items.
My son likes generic raisins. How much better can the packaged ones be?!
The biggest farce in branding is buying tylenol vs generic acetaminophen. They are the exact same thing. But some people I know swear by Tylenol, so whatever inane reason.
PEANUT BUTTER

You realize there is likely more fecal matter on your hands right now than anything to worry about regarding the content of peanut butter. Even if you scrub your hands until they bleed, every door handle or keyboard is going to be contaminated with blood and fecal matter. These items are also found on currency, along with traces of drugs. So, go ahead and skip the Skippy if that is a big deal to you.

30 insect fragments per 100g. And one rat hair. Any fecal matter on my hands is microscopic, that is not. A jar of peanut butter contains 500g. 150 insect fragments and 5 rat hairs yum yum.
i call bullshit. are you buying your peanut butter from rodent and insect-infested factories? are there certain brands you're referring to?
Y'all realize this stuff ain't real peanut butter, right? If you don't have to stir it it isn't peanut butter.
The peanut butter from the machine that grinds peanuts at the touch of a button is what I use at Fred Meyer (Kroger). It's cheaper than the Jiff, Adams, and generics in the same store. It contains only peanuts. I like that it doesn't have the oil on the top. The oil doesn't separate right after peanut butter is ground, at least in those grinding machines, and it doesn't separate when I've had a container of it sitting at home for a couple of weeks. How long does the peanut butter have to sit in a warehouse for the oil to separate out? They are either not fresh, or maybe the machines are so massive they squeeze the oil out, but either way, the oil doesn't have to be there.
Nice idea.. Thanks for the information..
I worked for Allgood Foods briefly many years ago. Although we made many different brands, the recipes vary so they aren't exactly the same.
Typically, the more expensive name brands had a lot more sugar (dextrose) and some even specified molasses in addition. Also, some brands specified a certain color range, meaning darker or lighter roasts. The name brands also frequently specified a higher 'crunchy' count (pieces per volume). We had a QC lab on site where this was measured during each production run.
I'm with the other posters who prefer only natural (crunchy) peanut butter, without emulsifiers.
