Well played. No mercy for people goofing around. Treacy versus Ovett.
It was a 10k and Lanni & Natasha jogged it.
Yes and they paid the price for not taking it seriously. Sure they were saving themselves for the next day, but still.
Not really different from someone letting up in s qualifying heat and missing the final.
Haha they deserved that
I agree. The runners who happen to be leading near the end don't get to determine where the finish line is and when the race is over. I've noticed, by the way, that triathletes tend to have a different view of things, and are more inclined to consider it poor sportsmanship to pass someone who has eased up before the finish line to celebrate a victory by high-fiving spectators, waving flags, and so on.

I hate their little antics at the end. Serves them right if they get beat.

I once ran a race behind those 2. It was glorious.
Didn't Norm Klein have issues with runners passing on the track at Western States?
Do they give ties for 2nd place?
Races go from the start line to the finish line. Who decides that it ends 10m or 100m before the finish line? Sure you can do slimy things like sprint the last 5m when you have been helped by the runner with you but there is nothing wrong with beating someone in a race. Its a race!

True. a triathlon is different. they beat you in so many ways, and they can celebrate now.
Hahaha, great video!
Poor form.
Cycling example
Why don't people wait to celebrate until after they crossed the finish line. That's like going out and spending money before you get your paycheck.
yea but were they relaxed?
Yes in fact they were relaxed. They are two Olympians who were on a vacation trip that included running in the 10K. It was a promotional event for them and not a competitive race.
