She just won NXN Northwest and is a likely favorite for 2nd place behind Tuohy. Burnout hasn't started yet, from what I can tell.

2 things, It is looking less likely that Tuohy will be there and also Chmiel looks like the one to beat if Tuohy is not there.
you are forgetting that now vaporflys et al exist and runners with non-typical high BMI can now keep running at speed despite extra weight
their high vo2max will not change through puberty, only weight gain, but the vaporflys compensate for that
cross-country may be out but there is now a track version of the vaporfly and of course roads
they just have to avoid stress fractures
it's all changing

Very good, but Ember Stratton ran similar times at a young age and look where she is now: not even winning NXN.
Oakley was insane though. Especially winning NXN by a huge margin even after falling down once.

Why would the single-age world record holder move over? Ping holds WRs for 5k at ages 10, 11, 12 and 13.
Sydney Thorvaldson is very good but she is the chaser.
Does anyone besides an overinvested parent or elite club coach really care what a female runner does from ages 10-13? Let’s see what they do from 16-18. And beyond.

It's been shown many times that the best adult women distance runners didn't even run competitively in their early teens and as a result their bodies reached sexual maturity (yes this is very important in bone and muscular development) before their bodies were subjected to the rigors of distance running.
Link to any examples?
Just making $hit up and passing it off as fact. Typical letsrun.

Yep, and much better than Ping now. But, remember, “not moving over” wrote she is the chaser, referencing Ping’s 10-13 year old world records. Again, why does anyone, except a club coach, care what a kid does in fourth grade? Get girls to junior year of high school and then see how they are doing. I’d bet that 95% of those 10-year old prodigies will have peaked or fallen off.
Thorvaldson is amazing. Anyone know how her training has evolved the last couple years?
I am delighted how wrong most of the smug kid bashing commentators in this thread look now. Oh Im sure they will call her an "exception" but it doesnt make them any less wrong. Go Syd. Good luck in Fayetteville.
First it was Ping but then Tuohy and Lane took over the hype of the teen girls by middle aged guys. This year's class is the best in history but aren't getting the same amount of hype because they weren't running 16:30 at 14 years old which seems to be what the crowd here thinks is the most attractive. Wait to develop in college like Schweizer and even less attractive accomplishment.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
