Makes sense to me.

Just looking at the past is a full-proof formula for failure. What worked for Emma as a 20 year old, is not going to apply to Emma the 26+ year old, once the developmental years fade, the getting the next 2-3% improvement is going to take different challenges.

And wait until there is some adversity in her training/racing...that's when a coach with years of experience pays dividends.

Think about it. Wetmore and Burroughs coach 18 to 22 year old collegians. These kids need a ton of control and boundaries as they develop. Emma is a woman with two Olympics, an Olympic Medal!!, American record, a big contract with New Balance, a huge following of fans, a stable family, friends, and fiancée........she is in a different world than Wetmore's collegian group and Burroughs mega-control coaching style. I bet there is nothing but huge relief for Emma.

That comment is just so dumb it has to be a troll. She didn't get to where she is now being coached by her bf - she got there with Wetmore. He had two athletes medal at the past Olympics which is probably better than most professional only coaches so clearly he knows more than the college game. And getting Goucher to a 4th place Trials finish was surprising considering she hadn't done much for years.
