Are you guys forgetting about Edward Cheserek?
Are you guys forgetting about Edward Cheserek?
I predict that it will still be irrelevant because its only highschool and not even a true championship at that

Hirsch didnt even get top 3 in footlocker regionals? How do you expect him to win NXN?????
....Probably because he's running 4 weekends in a row, post season, and he could coast at the FL regionals knowing top 10 gets him to FL finals without wasting his chance at NXN this weekend. Still won't matter though.
Clinger > Principe > Hirsch, 1,2,3.

And the rest of us High School fans will still find you irrelevant, just like you must have been in high school, obviously. Did coach never let you run varsity, luckylager?? You must be a late bloomer, peaking when you're 34, and imagining about kicking butt on those varsity runners who clobbered you in high school. It must burn you up that they are fat now would laugh at you now that you can finally break 18 minutes when they could break 15 @ 17 years old. (Don't let anybody catch you watching tomorrow!)
Hasty is undefeated this year, including a win over Principe. Don't sleep on him, he's in my top 3.

No, he is not. Vroon beat him on Oct 27th

With NXN right around the corner, who are your picks to win??
Here are mine
Girls Individual:
Brie Oakley looks like the clear favorite, she's smashed the field in every single race. Plus I hear it's only her second year running. Crazy stuff.
Kate Murphy looks solid after struggles in cross in previous years, and her track speed is unmatched.
My dark horse is Molly Born out of Heartland. She ran 16:49, but is still flying pretty much under the radar coming from Kansas. Yes, it's a really fast course, but that time is almost 20 seconds faster than the Hasz twins meet record, and they would go on to get 5th and 9th at NXN in 2014.
1. Oakley
2. Born
3. Murphy
Thoughts?
Look, full disclosure, I'm an SMNW alum so of course I'm rooting for Molly. But I've also done a lot of statistical runs of the various competitors in the race, and I do agree that Molly is really underrated. She's been running great all season, and has had three great weeks of prep between her qualifier and now.
Two others I'd watch out for are Gregory and Schadler, who have both run very similar track and cross times to Molly. And all three are ranked rather low by Dye and Flo which boggles my mind. I would wager a month's salary that one of the three will crack into the top three. And I hope, believe it will be Molly.
And as for the Heartland course, it may have been fast when compared to the old Nike Cross Course, but compared the new one I've found that based on the performances of its qualifiers next to Nationals, they've actually run very close times. I think on average they were 3 seconds slower at Nationals. So needless to say I think Molly's 16:49 is HIGHLY indicative of what she can do at Nationals, and given her training, she's going to surprise a lot of folks.
It's a shame the Illinois State Champion- Soren K - isn't racing; Him, Dylan J and Danny K would have looked pretty good going top 10.
I've turned this into the official live discussion thread so let's talk about the race as it happens here as well.

1. Oakley

3. Murphy
Boys Individual:
Clinger is no doubt the favorite, he won last year and there's not much to add to that.
However, I'm on the bandwagon for the UW guys out of heartland.
Seth Hirsch was top ten at both FL and NXN last year and looks even better this year. He and Finn Gessner ran 14:39 while coasting in down the stretch and flashing the W, which is insane.
1.Hirsch (Upset alert!!)
2. Clinger
3. Gessner
Girls team:
Can anyone bet against F-M? Carmel looks strong but who knows what sort of shape Sarah Leinheiser is in coming off that injury. The CA schools don't always do as expected, but I like Great Oak. They won the merge pretty handily. I also like Edina out of Heartland, they have experience and they're deep to their 7. Watch out for them.
1.F-M
2.Carmel
3.Great Oak
Boys team:
American Fork has the best top 3 of any team in the country and it's not even close. Having the top three at an NXR race is unheard of. Their 4-5 just need to step up. It's honestly a tossup. Neuqua won its region easily, as did Wayzata, who always seem to peak well. Bozeman looks strong, as does CBA, and CBA has had a good past here before.
1. AF
2. Neuqua Valley
3. Wayzata

3. Hasty
4. Hirsch
5. Worley
6. Teare
7. Brown
8. Jacobs

3. Great Oak
4. Brentwood
5. Bozeman
6. Woodlands
7. Wayzata
8. CBA
9. Downers Grove North
10. Summit
Everyone is sleeping on Danny Kilrea of Illinois. Kilrea won NXN Midwest over Dylan Jacobs, who in turn won Foot Locker Midwest, and nobody is talking about Kilrea. Not sure if Kilrea can beat Clinger, Principe or Hasty but I'd be shocked to see Kilrea outside of the top 5.
1. Clinger
2. Hasty
3. Principe
4. Kilrea
5. Jacobs
6. Hirsch
Why are the girls and boys races starting 90(?) minutes apart? Crank them out...30 minutes between race starts.
Is anyone getting actual video on the livestream? I hear it, but just see the NXN logo.
How much does it cost to watch the stream?

There are awards ceremonies after each race. So the girls will have their awards ceremony before the boys race.
