interesting to note that willis intends running 5k for ncaa outdoor season, anyone willing to take a stab at what times he'll run??
And is this the warhurst master plan to give Brannen a clear shot at a 1500m outdoor crown??

Willis will run 13.34.The Wardog will have something up his sleeve. Also about Brannen i reackon he will be targeting the 2006 commomwealths in the 1500m.He will be a main contender in that event along with the Willis machine
exactly what i was thinking.
Willis should most likely be 13:20s in a Stanford/Mt.Sac/Cardinal Inv. type race.
Willis Nor Branned will never win Commonwealth games Gold, although the best like Lagat will not be there, still No Chance>NCAA is good for them!!
Who's in the Commonwealth?
Willis will surprise everyone and go sub13.

No U.S., every country that holds the Queen as Sovereign - i.e. it's likely that any country that has a president is not in the commonwealth.

Never is a very stong word are you sure that's what you mean?
syb 13 for willis? not in this lifetime. Do you know wat it takes to go sub 13? look at some guys that have done it, and wat their times were in the mile and 1500. now realize they are more of 5k runners where as willis is more of a miler. atleast thats wat he's shown. i would be shocked if willis broke 13:20.

What was Kennedy's best 1500?
I think Willis best event will end up being the 5000. Can he go under 13? I think he's got a shot.
Firstly, Willis will not be running in any "fast" 5000m races this spring, just the Big 10's, Regionals and NCAA's all of which are tactical. Secondly, the strength training geared towards the 5000m is what he needs this next 3 months before he heads to Europe this summer and starts a couple months of racing 1500m and 800m races leading up to the rounds of the 1500m at the Worlds in late August. Why would he run the 1500m this spring in NCAA's, nothing to prove and a 3:32 guy isn't peaking in May and early June, he's gunning for August.
What could he run for 5000m? Great question, but probably won't see him all out in a 5000m for awhile. I'll say this though, last summer when he was sharpest he could've run at least 7:35 for 3000m in late July early August. The guy ran 7:44 in his second race indoor last year off of an illness for almost the whole month of December and just training base miles in Jan.
Can Willis someday run sub 13:00? With 3:32 wheels, he has a good shot. Kennedy, Carroll, Mottram, etc. did it and Moorcroft from the Uk set the WR at 13:00 flat with about the same speed Nick has already run for 1500m.
Plus Willis will only be 22 this April, plenty of good years ahead. And if he has his mind set on something, then there is a good chance he can go after it if it's his focus.
Totally agree with everything you said. These people who say retarded things like "never" and "not in this lifetime" have to realise that he is only 22, he has so much time ahead of him and if he's focusing on the 5000 then who's to say what he'll run when he's 29-30?
Do I think he'll someday get Commonwealth Gold - It's most definately a possibilty, I believe in 2008, 2012 he will likely be an Olympic Medal prospect.
Do I think he'll run sub 13 - I agree with the previous poster, if that's what he concentrates on then nothing is beyond hom.
what is the standard for the commonwealth games 5k? or the other events for that matter. did a search for them, but couldn't find it.
Why are you guys talking about 5000m as his future, kid is fast as hell. He is a miler and will always be, he will try to improve his 800-time which is already very fast 1.45 for a miler. He can run extremely fast at distances near his special event. 800 and 3k.
He said in the recent interview that he is concentrating on 5000 for the moment.
Standard for Comm Games 5k is 13:28. They aren't what they used to be, the sooner NZ and Aust realise this the better. Hopefully they make it a little easier to send full teams!
"You want another Beer Rick?"
Willis will get a side ache, throw up, and run 16:15
qqq-ueer.
