I'd laugh if Penn St and Western Michigan both won. If so they should play each other after and call it the real national championship just to embarrass the playoff committee and ESPN.

Too much whining, but they gotta beat USC first.
If they do become Rose Bowl Champs, they probably earn some right to complain, but they should be more upset about UM and OSU's performances than their non-inclusion in the playoff - those losses (and shutout) just make the B1G look very weak.

Michigan didn't care about that game and it was obvious. Only cared about a national title, and it was obvious for 3 1/2 quarters. Still only lost by 1 without their best player.
OSU ran into a buzz saw. Everyone overlooked Clemson and they should give bama another good game. None of this has anything to do with penn state.
Guilty as charged in that I thought Clemson was the weakest of the playoff teams. However, I did mention that the rankings were a bit "incestuous" w/four of the former Big Ten teams in the top eight at the time. If Penn State loses and OU wins, this was not a preposterous notion at all (well, it still isn't), and the Sooners will have a great case that the Big 12 got screwed again.
Having said that, the PAC-12 also appears overrated, though USC seems to be the best of the bunch, having beaten both UW and Colo.
wow, their going to win. slap on the wrist, and new Rose bowl champs. Sad.
The Rose Bowl has been a silly way of patting each other on the back for at least 3 decades.
Overrated Pac vs overrated Big
Someone has to win.
Penn State still out here raping people, y'all! Hide ya kids!

Are you sure?
USC wins a great game! Penn St, Michigan and Ohio St will be a good battle next year. Don't forget Wisco either. Perhaps 2 big ten teams make the playoff next year? We'll see.
Michigan had 33 seniors on this year's team, they won't be as good. Ohio State and Penn State have young rosters and could both make the playoff.

Well at least 1 of those 4 Big Ten teams won their Bowl Game this year and the Big Ten went 3-7 in Bowl Games this year..
OU, undefeated in conference & w/a convincing win over Auburn, has a case. Much better tm than they were in Sept. The Big 10 was overrated, as was the PAC-12.
OU got screwed. Had a feeling they should've been last team in playoff.
OU should have been in and Washington out.
You can argue about WHICH Big Ten team should have been in, but at least one deserved a spot.

Auburn -- 8-5 with maybe one quality win -- quite the powerhouse! Lolz

Other than one running back for Alabama Washington exposed them as a very weak offensive team. They certainly belonged.

I'd argue that USC, who beat Washington, would have been a better playoff team.
But we can go back and forth..
The problem as I see it is that teams that get hot toward the end of the season but have early season losses are left out when they may be peaking and actually be a better opponent. Then you have teams like Michigan who lost 2 of their last 3 games and want in. Glad they didn't make it.

I agree with you. This 4 team stuff is just nonsense, and the 2016 committee should never live down ranking Oh St #2 after switching the apparent criteria from previous years. It's not even clear to me if Clemson is the second best team since Oh St looked so bad. I think the best teams right now are Bama, Clemson and some combination of Oklahoma, PSU, Washington and USC. But hey, who knows since we can't have a larger field like the other ncaa football divisions.
+1 to all the above. An 8 team playoff is a must. I can't express how happy it made me to see OSU shut out. Almost as happy as when Bama went down 21-0 against Utah in the first quarter (2009 Sugar Bowl) and eventually lost. The look on Bama fans faces.....
Washington played tough and certainly deserved their spot. But without the 8 team playoff it's impossible to say whether they deserved it the MOST.
