The Big 10 winner should jump Michigan if Clemson or Washington lose. The committee only ranks based on what has happened. A huge win like that for PSU or Wisconsin should be enough to jump Michigan.

You must be one of the fvcking idiots who thought the sanctions would destroy the football program. Guess what, you were wrong. PSU is once again a great team with strong recruits signing left and right.

PSU still pretends that the Paterno/Sandusky child sex scand al didn't happen.

Incorrect, Penn State has zero chance of jumping Michigan. Wisconsin has a small chance, but unlikely.
The head to head wins that Michigan holds over Wisconsin, PSU and a potential Pac 12 champion Colorado are too much to overcome.

If Clemson or UW lose, the fairest thing to do would be to take OU, assuming they beat #10 Okla St. I thought I saw the pundits last week saying OU or USC were their first teams out, so they must not think the Big Ten is as strong as purported or they don't care how teams played in Sept so much as they care how they are playing now.
I agree w/your last paragraph. Shorten the season, go with an eight team playoff. It's the fairest thing to do. Anyway, it's Alabama's title to lose this year.
The pundits aren't on the committee, and anyone claiming that OU or USC has/had a chance were full of crap. There are a lot of idiots working at ESPN.
OU got their faces stomped in by OSU in their own house. Michigan went on the road and lost to OSU in double OT. OU will have zero Top 10 wins come Sunday, Michigan will have three.
Tonight the committee was clearly preparing everyone for Michigan getting in if Clemson or Washington lose. You can believe it now, or believe it Sunday, but that is what is happening. Michigan will finish ahead of PSU, Wisconsin, Colorado, OU, and anyone else that isn't already ahead of them.
I would be willing to bet thousands of dollars that Michigan will not make the playoffs this year. There is zero chance they finish in the top 4. You are diluding yourself to think otherwise. They lost 2 games, didn't win their conference, didn't even win a share of their division (they were #3 in the East). The CFP Committee will NOT include 3 Big Ten teams in their top four, and the Big Ten Conference Champion will end up ahead of Michigan in the final poll. Michigan barely escaped Wisconsin, and were losing to Colorado late before Liufau got injured and freshman Montez went 0-7 in his live snaps to end the game. They also don't have the win over Ohio State like Penn State has. An 11-2 Big Ten Champion is not going to end up behind a 10-2 Michigan in the final poll, and I really doubt an 11-2 Pac-12 Champion would be either. Michigan will stay probably stay ahead of Oklahoma even if they blowout Oklahoma State, though, because Oklahoma didn't beat anyone all year, played in a down Big 12 and won't have an extra win.
Pedo State might get in and win a championship and terrorize America with promotion of nvtheir grotesque sexual beliefs. This is a university that lionizes a man who harbored a pedo for decades. Pedo State students and alumni knew about it for decades. Rural America is immoral and perverted.

They have 2 losses including a loss to Pittsburgh so I think that causes penn state to lose their chance at a playoff spot. I'm not entirely sure though.
Sucks though because Ohio state is basically benefitting by staying home next week and not playing in the big ten title game. They get to sit with their 1 loss record and you know the playoff committee will be biased in favor of Ohio state.
It isn't bias. Ohio State has wins over Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Michigan. Name one team who can match their resume.
Sorry to burst your bubbles, but Penn State and Wisconsin are not getting in. Clemson is not losing. If Washington loses, Michigan is in. They have wins over wisconsin, penn state, and COLORADO which is the team who would have to beat washington.
You are right, 3 big ten teams will not get in. Michigan has a MUCH better resume and they are a much better team than penn state and they are a bit better than wisconsin. Michigan is in if Clemson or Washington loses and that is a fact. There will be no "jumping." The committee's job according to their written explanation is to pick the 4 best teams, and there is NO extra incentive to be conference champion. That is a fact, so don't think some pseudo-title from penn state or will change that. The committee is made of people, not computers. They know OSU and Mich are the best teams in the big ten. This is coming from a Wisconsin grad and fan.
PS anyone who openly supports Penn state has some sort of mental problem. To sit here and show pride for the most disgusting institution in the world means you are one screwed up person.

Wisconsin is #5 in the poll right now and not very far behind Michigan, if they beat Penn State there is no chance they are still behind Michigan.
There is a reason they left Iowa unranked, it is to have an out when Michigan doesn't make the playoffs, "Michigan lost to an unranked team".

Yep. Should Washington or Clemson lose and drop out, the B1G Champion will jump Michigan. The rankings as of now are what HAS happened. Neither Penn State nor Wisconsin is the B1G Champion and neither has beat the other, as of now.
After they play, one of them WILL BE the B1G Champion and will have just added a quality win to their resume. (How many times will we hear the words "resume" and "body of work" in the explanation of who makes it who does not?)
Fans always cry when their team "gets dropped" without losing, but that fails to take into account that the team that jumped them added significantly to their case by adding a quality win and a championship.
Michigan is out unless both Washington AND Clemson lose. Then things could get really crazy.
Ohio State is in. I can't see three teams jumping them.
Alabama is in. My bet is that with a loss they would drop to third, so they still could be in the championship game against the #1 seed. They won't drop them to fourth and have it feel like there is a de facto championship game in a semi-final. But I think they'll beat Florida handily, making this all moot.

How many times does your shallow skull have to post on this thread? A bunch of the top schools have had scandals, but it shows great perseverance for the program to keep rising up despite its setbacks. A lot was learned from the scandal, and it's good that awareness can be summoned from it to prevent such incidents from happening anywhere in the future. One bad act or people does not define a program, so get off your little insecure morality high-horse. You hate seeing success because you're insecure. Try appreciating people who make an effort to improve and strive for greatness. The fact that PSU football is relevant less than a decade after the scandal says a lot about the perseverance and pride of PSU. I'm in no way associated with PSU, but I am capable of critical thinking, so I recognize that they've done well to overcome a lot and achieve success and I'm happy for PSU.
Predator State University may be full of Sanduskys.
It's interesting that Nebraska was left out of this week's CFP rankings, as they've been ranked most of the season and although they suffered an embarrassing loss to Iowa, they're still ranked in the Coaches and AP polls.
An unranked Nebraska weakens OSU and Wisconsin, since it's one less win for them over a ranked team.
Michigan St and Iowa absolutely embarrassed the Big Ten in the College football playoff last year. So maybe the committee only takes the Big Ten champ this year even though Ohio St won a couple years ago. Two big ten teams again might anger a lot of people. Especially if they stink it up.

Technically, Iowa was not in the CFP but bigly embarrassed the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl.

You didn't watch the show last night. Hocutt went on at length about how close Washington and Michigan were. Nothing about Wisconsin being close to Michigan. They are very clearly setting the stage for Michigan to get in with a Colorado win over Washington.
If Colorado wins, Michigan will have head to head wins against the other two teams it is fighting for the 4th spot, Colorado and Wisconsin/PSU. Michigan will also likely have three Top 10 wins, against potentially one each for Wisconsin/Colorado and potentially two for PSU.
I'm not a Michigan fan, just a truth teller.

We heard you the first time.
You guys are making false statements. THIS IS NOT THE BCS. THE RANKINGS ARE NOT "WHAT HAS HAPPENED SO FAR." THE RANKINGS ARE WHO THE COMMITTEE BELIEVES ARE THE BEST TEAMS.
The only way wisconsin or penn state jump michigan(who beat them) is by one blowing the other one out and making the committee think they are a better team, like ohio state did two years ago. Otherwise, there will be no bonus points for penn state or wisco winning the game(outside of the rose bowl berth).
The committee has stated that there is a significant gap between the top 5 and the rest.
