Until people realize than NBA bench warmers make millions and actual talented runners make zilch they're just shooting themselves in the foot.

There's a certain point where it just becomes time to move on from running. When you haven't had a good performance in years or finished well at the trials, it's time to go. I don't really care if someone ran world class times 3 years ago. If you haven't been running well for at least 2 years it's time to get the boot. Maybe then some new talent straight out of college can take their place rather than earn little to no money running unattached
Why do you care if someone has a contract? If someone is willing to pay these runners, I think they should take the money as long as it lasts. I can't fathom how much someone must hate their life to attack people for pursuing a professional athletic career.

Get back to us on that tomorrow.
Like I was saying.

...and in typical Letsrun anonymous fashion, wowwwwwdude won't return here to eat a plate of crow, will he?
Hasn't Bobby Curtis had some decent results not too long ago? 2nd at USA XC in 2015, made the worlds team. Granted, hasn't done anything in 2016 but he's a marathoner, gotta lower the expectations.

Here! Damn, didn't know I was an anonymous, yet registered poster.
Anyways, thrilled to see he's had a (one) good race on the track in the last 3 years. As i said, I'm a fan and pulling for him. Hoping he actually skips the XC season and focuses on staying healthy for an entire season (for the first time in his pro career) and puts together some impressive races in some elite fields.

Bobby's 2:11:20 in Frankfurt is the 2nd fastest US time of 2016.

So Ryan is going to spend the rest of his life calling himself a "2:04 marathoner" based on his net downhill wind-aided time (barely under 2:05). The guy was fast enough to not have to resort to this BS. It's like hobbyjoggers who PR at St George and refer to themselves as a "sub-3:00 marathoner"when they wouldn't have gotten within five minutes of that on a fair course.
Pretty sad.
Nothing like hobbyjoggers at St. George (or even worse courses like Big Cottonwood with a 5,000 foot drop).
Ryan is as much of a 2:04 Marathoner as Bill Rodgers is a 2:09 Marathoner.
Just popping in to defend some folks
Sheila Reid made the 2016 Olympic Team but got injured so gave up her spot. Kudos to her for not just taking the spot and hobbling the first round.
Chris Derrick just ran 27:38 today. Not bad for November. I'd expect a half marathon from him soon but I don't know.
Bobby Curtis ran 2:11 this year. Second fastest in the US.
