2 hours to go.

I need, at this point, to acknowledge Fast Guy. First of all his time really is amazing; I can appreciate it so much more now that I've fallen so short. And then to come on here and encourage me and defend me and try to coach me--I can't decide if that speaks to his character, or if the nature of the challenge makes those who go for it brothers-in-arms. Maybe a combination: those who try something so ridiculous are more likely to be helpers, encouragers, good people.
Haha thanks man. I had a lot of fun back when I did it and can always kind of relate to the highs and lows of the challenge. Hope you're still hanging in there or if you walked away, you knew it was the right thing to do
LetsDrink.com, do you mind if I give you a call?
Huge embarrassing failure it is!
100 miles, 80 beers was the final count.
Here's the final run:

Hopefully I can find the time and motivation tomorrow to write a postmortem.
Do you have tomorrow off work? If not, double congrats.

Was fast guy drinking coors lite? Or some other watered down beer? Could be the difference
Thanks for an entertaining 4 days!

Legendary. Just for making the attempt that far and going for it. Loved reading the updates for the duration.
Why didnt you just sit back and enjoy the last 20 beers to at least get a time? Or do you have work commitments? Fair play tho - thanks!
Raise a glass! Nothing but respect for this, mate. And the Strava updates add you to the way-too-short list of honest people on LetsRun.
Rest deservedly.
This was a great thread. I couldn't come anywhere close to completing this in 100 hours.
I keep trying to play it in my mind. 100 miles seems doable, even for someone as unfit as I am.
However, the 100 beers would be extremely tough. Even as a college student drinking 4-5 days a week. Now for someone who drinks once or twice a month, it would be damn near impossible.
Congrats! 100-80 is beyond impressive to me still.
Impressive. Thanks for the entertainment.
Winter break is approaching... who is signing up for the next attempt? We need some letsrun sponsorship to fund a reward and maybe a livestream of the final hours or a highlight reel.

The liability for LR would be huge. The Brojo's are stupid, but not that stupid.
update: luke has given up after hitting 100/80. given up the beer, that is. he continues to slog 10+ miles a day and will continue to have one new beer a day.
luke, maybe you should've waited until after christmas to do this, so you could finally stop running once you hit 100
There's got to be a way to optimally process the beer thru one's system. Maybe forcing down large quantities of water or tilting your macro intake towards or away from one or another. Maybe eating a huge amount of fiber to keep flushing your system.
good job luke! this was great
Thanks for all the positivity everyone! Not what I expected from LRC message boards, especially after falling so short.
I did in fact go to work today, and did get 10.1 miles in after work, and with dinner I drank a beer I hadn't tried before.
I'm very tired, I'm going to bed...
Great thread. Back when I was young, I was obsessed with these threads. I wasn't sure anyone had ever done it. Now I read a guy did it in 79 hours and documented it on here. I guess Iwas too busy coaching.
I couldn't run 100 miles in 100 hours. When you are going 10 minute miles, it takes too long.
I do think the strategy of just staying up for 4 hours might be a fun one. Run a mile, slam a beer, rest for 45 minutes. Repeat.
Maybe when I turn 50 I'll do it. Anyone know the Masters WR?
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
