The best against the best at the top meet for K-12. Otherwise it is not the top meet. NXN is now a coach-must-win-manipulated joke.
Why K-12? If you are going to make the case that younger runners should be able to run against older runners, why not older runners against younger runners? Is it not the same?
It makes plenty of sense to base the rules of NXN on the rules of the state in which the athlete resides, for all the reasons pointed out and more.
