Sydney G. has run 13:44 and 13;36. His altitude converted time was 14:03. Clearly he's capable of actually running that.
Secondly, the nationals course was hilly as h3ll. Not a speed based course.

Too bad. I bet all of the Mines kids are crying because after they graduate they're gonna get well paying jobs. You know, because they went to an actual school.
The Adams State kids, not so much.
The school doesn't create the well paying jobs, amigo- your work ethic and desire to succeed DOES.
Mines qualifies on their 197 meter track but gets the undersize conversion aimed at 160 meter tracks. Being the "smart" school that they are, this is a brilliant idea. Make the track small enough to be considered undersized, but an irrelevant amount smaller than a 200 so that there's actually no effect upon running speed.

You clearly have never been to Mines
Didn't they get in some hot water a few years back for something with that track?
Yes, they were running races in lane 2 LOL, but yet still getting the undersized track conversion. The CSM distance runners only qualify for nats on their home track (other than Weaver and Evans). RMACs is at CSM this weekend. Really interested to see if everyone runs big converted-PR’s

Lane 1 is 193 meters, lane 2 is 200 meters. So they were running on a 200 meter track, and getting the undersized track conversion. The undersized track conversion, which was intended for 160 meter tracks.

No.
Mines approved everything about it through the NCAA, the undersized status, the running in late two thing etc. The "hot water" you're discussing was when for the umpteenth time ASU brought their guys to continue taking advantage of the conversion but they ran terribly (talented group of guys - just a bad day). In the same meet Mines Ran well and put a few guys on the qual lists.
Naturally the ASU response was to petition the NCAA to throw out all the marks from the meet due to the conversion and running in lane 2.
Might as well throw them all out ... .otherwise count up the ones who bomb at nat's cuz they aren't legit times for a few of them.
This is flat out false information. Mines did get in trouble for this, however the RMAC caused a ruckus about not being involved in the repercussions and therefore the times stood. Mines has since run in lane 1 for all meets, showing that what they were doing before was most definitely against the rules.
P.S. There is not "advantage" to running in a dome vs a hard structure.
I mean, everyone responds to altitude differently but for the most part I think altitude conversion are fine, I don’t have a problem with it. It’s the huge undersized track conversion when the track is barely undersized is what is ridiculous.
300m track in boulder- 6 seconds for the mile
193m track in golden - 11 seconds for the mile.
Same elevation
I don’t believe Mines got approval from anyone at the NCAA ahead of time to run in lane 2 on their home Indoor track. The uproar only came after Adams State cried foul.
What I do know is Adams State did accept and use the distance conversions there for years until Martin decided to cry foul. After crying foul for accepting a method Martin used previously to his team’s advantage he made it look like he was the hero to other universities that were being unfairly knocked out of the descending order list.
Martin’s cries went unanswered as the RMAC over ruled him.
Martin was correct in turning Mines in but why did he wait for many years?
Character and ethical flaws.
Meanwhile ASU struggles to keep their sh*t together
Wow there is a lot of misinformation in this thread.
First off, Steinhauer Fieldhouse was built in 1937 and is actually one of the oldest indoor track facilities in the nation. The track just barely fits inside. Lane four literally runs right up against the wall. Suggesting that the track was intentionally made undersized to get a conversion is just asinine.
Second, the track is actually 187m at the inside of lane one. Each lane adds about 6-7m. Lane two is 193m and lane three is 200m.
The previous controversy revolves around the fact that races were run in lane two. I don't know if the NCAA approved this or not but old documents like this one(
https://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/IndexReport_FINAL.pdf
) do list the track as being 193m, so they listed the size for lane two, NOT lane one. Exactly how things unfolded is unclear but yes after a meet in 2011(?) Martin did protest to the NCAA which led to the decision that all races had to be run in lane one.
