You've never seen Alberto Salazar's writing have you? A college education is highly over-rated.

Which is in US News' top tier. It's also ranked among the top 50 or so public universities in the country.

The category of "National Universities" has 248 schools. Arkansas is 120 in that category - a bit better than half. The other main category, liberal arts schools, comprises many schools such as Williams, Amherst, Bucknell, etc. that are generally considered to be better than bad public universities. Remember that Ark. is considered the "flagship" state University - while many others in the National category are smaller or satellite campuses.
Here's the state schools that are ranked higher than Arkansas:
Cal-Berkeley
U. Michigan
U. Virginia
UCLA
UNC-Chapel hill
William and Mary
Wisconsin
Cal-SD
Illinois
Ga. Tech
Cal-Irvine
Cal-Davis
Cal-Santa Barbara
Texas
Washington
Penn St.
Florida
Maryland
Rutgers
Georgia
Iowa
Ohio State
Purdue
Miami, Ohio
Texas A & M
Delaware
Minnesota
Pitt
Indiana
Michigan St.
Clemson
SUNY-Binghamton
Va. Tech
Colorado
Cal-Riverside
Iowa St.
N.C. State
Alabama
Missouri
Auburn
Cal-Santa Cruz
Kansas
Tennessee
Vermont
Ohio U.
Arizona
Massachussets
Nebraska
New Hampshire
Utah
Oregon
Florida St.
Colorado St.
SUNY-Stony Brook
Missouri-Rolla
South Carolina
I count that there are only 14 states with public universities that are worse than Arkansas. Look at some of the states they beat- those known for their academic achievement: Mississippi, West Virginia, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, South Dakota.

LOL. okay now you are comparing it to some REALLY shitty schools. face it, arkansas is not the best school in the world and as a state it is worse.
And while I generally think Arkansas is an extremely backasswards state - the Fayetteville area is actually beautiful and has a lot of great places to run. Most of the country may hate Wal-Mart - but it has done wonders in pumping money into Northwest Arkansas.
UofA is no Harvard - but they have some strong programs sprinkled in with many weak ones. My HS valedictorian (36 ACT, 1560 SAT) went to Arkansas for some reason (can't remember the field he went to study, though).
And UofA is the best overall Track/CC program in the country - even if Colorado and Wisco both seem to be recruiting better LD talent of late.
The real letsrun question -- How did AlSal let him not go to Oregon???

Hey "Idiot,"
Maybe you didn't notice where your beloved Wisco program finished at indoor nationals. Looks like they take indoors fairly seriously. But then, again, this is track, you don't seem to know too much about that.
I'm pretty sure that Arkansas has more XC titles that Colorado, Wisconsin, and Stanford combined. I'm actually not a fan of Arkansas, just trying to point out the obvious reasons why a top distance runner might choose to go to school and run for the Hogs.
Arkansas has the best coach and program in the world that is why Cormier is heading to the UofA. Look at the calibre of athletes that train there.
800m
James Hatch (2nd NCAA indoors) 1.47.4
James Kiranu (1.46)
Senica Lassiter (1.46)
Said Ahmed (1.47)
1500m/Mile
Senica Lassiter (3.34)
Said Ahmed (3.37)
Mark Fountain (3.54mile)
3000m/5000m/10000m/Steeple
Alistair Cragg 7.38-13.11 28.18
Daniel Lincoln 7.40-8.16steeple-28.18
Josphat Boit 7.46-13.18
Peter Koskie (2nd NCAA 3000m)
Jason Sandfort 28.29
Plus a handfull of other athletes that would run circles around you. So now go cry into your pillow, because you were never fast enough to make the squad at the UofA
If you can't beat 'em, berate 'em.
What must you do to get a full ride there?

Yeah, Arkansas definitely focuses too much on indoor. They've only managed to win double-digit championships in outdoor and cross-country each.

get good grades academically, which i;m sure most of the recruits have.
they all sure as hell ain't got no full ride atheltically with the studs on the roster (spearmon, gay, ahmed, and on on)
Of all the great distance runners that arkansas has recruited and developed. which of them improved after college and continued their success into the olympic/world championship stage? Alistair Cragg has been great in his first year out, but what about others? 3,4,5 years out of college? Seneca Lassiter?
Lassiter left and came back...I can name a few people, Joe Falcon, Reuben Reina, Daniel Lincoln, Alistair Cragg, Graham Hood, plus many more. Answer your question dickhead? Better yet, come to Arkansas tell the athletes to their face what you think of them and their coaches program and see your arse get handed to you on every run or workout that you do. You rate your self so highly, lets just see how great you really are.
Which former Hog runner attributes his alergies to the wonderful chicken industry which dominates the great state of AK [and all the air which surrounds it]?
* I know the program's status. I accept the fact the school is ok. But if I have my pick of U's,UA wouldn't be on my list.
Doogie's going to Arkansas?? For Med School, right??? I mean he's already got his undergrad, I assume.....
Unfortunately, they don't take 4:30+ milers at Arkansas, CU, Wisconsin, or Stanford, so it's a moot point you're making, idiot. Actually they have at CU, but that doesn't concern you, anyway. As far as Wisc and Stanford, who can they say they've "developed" in the past two years that outshines Ahmed, Lincoln, and Cragg, by your rubric?
hey bigroy- ak would be the abbreviation for alaska, smart guy.
-"Which former Hog runner attributes his alergies to the wonderful chicken industry which dominates the great state of AK [and all the air which surrounds it]?"
Daniel Lincoln joined Arkansas as a walk on unrecruited by any major college program and made an olympic final and is heading off to med school...........
