I included Farah in the list because he has shown the ability to be a world class 1500 runner while AT THE SAME TIME, displaying the endurance required for the 10,000. This is what makes him so good at championship style races. Although he doesn't approach KB level talent at the 10k, he still is no slouch at the distance. He has won a couple championship 10ks where competitors pushed the pace (for part of the race at least). He wasn't great in his early years because he wasn't really applying himself (according to his own claims). Suppose he was applying himself in the same way 8 years ago, maybe he would have been winning metals back then.
I wonder if Asbel Kiprop could do the same thing Farah has done and win 5k/10k championships if he trained for them. He has done well in some XC races, so I wonder.
As far as Rudisha is concerned, I don't know how to rank 800 meter runners to other distance runners. The 800 is the middle ground between sprint talent and distance talent, yet the even itself requires such a specialized athlete. But setting a WR while winning an olympic gold probably should place him in the top 5.
Speaking of simultaneous WR and olympic gold (and expanding this discussion to women distance runners as well), Ayana Almaz could probably rank at the top of the women's list.

You know Kiprop has great talent because we saw it right away.
He had to figure out how to race and took a while before had the courage to push races to run fast times.
.
You seem to be discounting Farah for the same reason that you are crediting Kiprop.
Don't start with the "fastest times" crap.
Farah has a talent for winning races.
Kiprop has a talent for choking on the biggest stage.

Kiprop won an Olympic Gold medal when he was 19.
That's talent.
He then developed his talent into being a three time world champion and becoming the third fastest man in history.
Farah surely has talent but wining did not come quick to him.
He didn't run a world class time until he was 22 and didn't have a major victory until he was 28.
Kiprop is only 27 right now.
Talent shows early.

Mike Rossi. I mean, the dude's race times outstrip his physical potential by the widest margin in history.
This is the funniest thing I've read here yet!
If you were that guy's age, weight, and (lack of) fitness, would you be able to BQ?
Eliud Kipchoge
Asbel Kiprop
Kenenisa Bekele
Vivian Cheruiyot
Almaz Ayana
I do not get how Rupp or Centro are on these lists.
1. Rudisha
2. Bolt
3. Van Niekerk
4. KB
5. Kiprop
I would put Farah on as a master race tactician.
I feel like we aren't seeing enough love for Sammy wanjiru. Has to be top 5 of this era if not ever. Ran a 13:12 when he was 17. As an 18 year old he ran a 26:41 and probably could have gone faster if not for the fact that he stuck with Bekeles record pace in the early going. A few weeks after that still as an 18 year old he set the half marathon world record. After Gebrselassie took the half world record, Wanjiru retook it and following that, lowered it another 20 seconds as a 20 year old. The next year he smashed a 24 year old Olympic record by three minutes in the heat of beijing to set the still standing Olympic marathon record. By 2010 he was drinking too much and letting his personal life interfere with his running. His coach was going to scratch him from the Chicago marathon because Sammy was overweight and in no shape to run a marathon. Sammy insisted on running the race and proceeded to win what would be the last race of his life.

3. my dad
4. Usain Bolt
5. Kenenisa Bekele
That was my thought, too. Kipchoge's WC win over El G and KB in 2003 also showed great talent, but he's been getting his share of the votes thus far.
Bekele
Bolt
WvN
Kipchoge
Rudisha
Got to add Solinsky, nobody so heavy has ever run so far, so fast for so long.
Thanks for this Kenya. I knew Wanjiru had a fast 10k time and amazing marathon dominance, I did not realize he was doing it at such a young age. He may deserve to be up higher in my ranking.
Kenenisa Bekele
Tirunesh Dibaba
Haile Gebrselassie
Paula Radcliffe
And a tie between Bernard Lagat and Mizuki Noguchi
Because I am sure you meant runners as a whole, regardless of gender, and not just male runners. Unless you are Donald Trump.

If Bekele had great talent he would still be able to win on the track!
I notice guys who did not set world records are allowed on the list as long as its not Farah. You lotreally hate him but he keeps on winning
...and one more thing look up how old Mo was when he won his first world title. Check your stats before spouting nonsense
Not one mention of King Ches wow dude is a beast and the G O A T NCAA runner ever.
