It is hard to argue with this statement. I gather I ran the wrong race, but I still should have run better than I did.
Also, in planning for NYC, I figured I would still get another shot at a sub-3. After NYC, I have adjusted my thinking, and that is why I wanted to run again soon. My fitness is just too good to waste. Time to try something different. I can always adjust my race plan if things are not going well. To me, it is worth a try, at least once.
