Very true.
However, most 1:55 800 guys were just born with the ability to do 1:55 with SOME training and many if not most distance runners will never touch 155 no matter what training they do.
Conversely, the further the distance, the more that hard work and training contributes to ability to hit those times presented. (Still need genetics to hit 2:15 though!)
No there are a lot fewer runners capable of 2:15 regardless of training. The times are not comparable. Take the UK lists 3 under 2:15 this year and over 300 under 1:56 ! - power of 10.
