We had none. We're on a cul de sac, but lots of folks had their lights on. Glad to hear that others had a lot of kids come by. I was concluding that Halloween was a dying holiday.

Still don't buy it. My hood has about 500 hundred houses all separated by five feet each all set back ten feet from the road, most with primary school kids in it. Prime pickings for Halloween. It is a known hood for people to "bus in" for easy candy. This hood is in the middle of a very dense and young part of Toronto Canada which is part of one of the densist cities in North America. And we don't get close to 700 hundred kids. So I still can't see it.
So, your personal experience is the only thing you rely on? So because you don't get 700 kids that means no one does? That's pretty ignorant. Do you realize that there are many towns that stick to Trick or Treat night on Halloween no matter when that falls and that many neighboring towns will have it on a Saturday if Halloween is on Sunday for example? Do you realize that many kids will go on both nights to both places which might mean kids from ten towns go to the one who holds out on Halloween night?

Over 600 kids last night and each of the last three years, midwestern city of 115,000. We live in a historic neighborhood with a reputation for going all out for holidays. Last night we gave out:
450 bite size candy bars
90 full size candy bars
15 two liter bottles of soda
4 full packages of Snack Pack pudding
2 containers of cake frosting
1 full package of Oreos
1 can of Pringles
1 box of Capn Crunch
Started at 5:30p, shut it down at 7:30 after handing out everything we bought and some of the candy our own kids collected trick or treating. Had another 100 or so kids walk by after we shut the lights off. Weather was amazing, so numbers held steady even though it was a school night. Kids just started a bit earlier and didn't stay out as late.
I call BS on the 600 trick-or-treaters that you claim. For one, for your list of items, the math does not add up to 600. Also, who gives out 2 liter bottles of pop? NO kid would want to carry that around.
The main reason I call BS is that you would have to have one kid every 12 seconds constantly for two hours straight. Though it is possible in 12 seconds to hear trick-or-treat, give candy, hear thank you and say you're welcome , there is no way it happened 600 times in 2 hours. There is time taken when one group leaves the porch and the next group walks up. There is time taken to comment on costumes, exchange pleasantries, etc. There are also gaps in groups of kids.
I'm glad you got to enjoy Halloween and were so generous, but please don't BS us.
One with McIntosh razor blade inserted .
Autopsy inconclusive .
You got me. I can't math. I thought I'd be able to trick Let's Run, but, oh deer, you're so gd smart.
When the kids come in groups of ten, it's no problem to hand out candy to five kids in 12 seconds, let alone one. Every kid doesn't get a nice, long interaction about how amazing their costume is, and what a special flower they are.
We give out huge bottles of soda, and kids delight in taking them. They don't think about dragging it around for two hours, they think about how amazing it is to get a huge bottle of soda. We call it a trick, they like to think it's a treat. Everyone's happy.
Cereal and cake frosting were new this year. Kids still freak out over full size candy bars. Most kids still say "trick or treat" and "thank you". It's all good.
This is exactly what I would expect from a letsrun poster.. Clearly you had to go trick or treating by yourself when you were younger or you would've realized that most kids in fairly large groups.
I was busy Halloween night this year so I just left out a bowl of candy. When I was younger there was a small town near my house that all of the kids from the surrounding towns would go to because almost every house was decorated, they handed out full sized candy, it was fairly dense, and very well lit. I could easily see the people in this town getting 400+ every year.

i was given one once.. i would have carried that 2 Liter for 2 hours if i had to
to this day i give them out.
60 this year
Rained the whole time.
Usually 120-150.
Sent the first kid HOME DEVASTATED.
Word got out quick.
No more trick or treaters!
Any way you can special order one of those "sex offender - no trick or treating at this address" signs? Not interested in giving out free candy to worthless kids.
Busiest day was 3000 kids. I gave each of them diabetes.
No idea. I tend not to be home at that time.
Zero point zero Mr. Blutarsky. I live in a fifth-floor apartment in a walk-up building (that is, has no elevator) in Manhattan. I don't even bother to buy candy.
Beggars Night losers.
