4:30 miler, according to Frank Shorter
He didn't run track, he threw discus.
He did a workout indicating sub 4:30 shape before he got a season ending injury.
So like, all of us?

Gore claims to have invented high school track!
We'll never find the results because it was before he invented the internet.
The world was significantly cooler back then, and more conducive to faster times.
The fact that he never ran 4:30 is an inconvenient truth.

Problem was he competed in Florida. It seems he left the tag hanging out of his singlet and was disqualified for a uniform violation Would have won by 0.2 seconds too.
He came in second in a photo finish but argued he should have been credited with the win. Says he was more popular.
His boarding school won their Conference in T&F three times while he was enrolled ('63, '64, '65)

More info to follow...
So, he attended St Albans (a boarding school in the DC area), which is part of the Interstate Athletics Conference (IAC). I have so far been unable to locate a website for the IAC.
St Albans' website says that they recently hosted their first track and field home meet since 1969, according to archivist Mark Wilkerson. This indicates that there are records of track and field meets for the school at least back to '69, and hopefully back to Gore's years there.
Also important to note: all students at St Albans are required to participate in a sport, so we should not expect Gore to be some sort of stellar T&F athlete. He did receive varsity letters in the sport, however we do not know the requirements to get a letter.
Will continue digging.
He went to all required practices, hence the letter.
Everyone gets an award and makes the honor roll at these hoity-toity prep schools.
At $60k a year, wouldnt you expect your kid to be made to feel special?
Right Rojo?

Well, this was in the 60s, before the trend of giving everyone a medal was so widely established.

Fallacious.
Does not mean it didn't happen before the popular trend.
Learn how to reason.

Heard he was a bandit in the 68 Boston Marathon. Jumped in after the Newton Hills just to meet chicks and get all that applause he so desperately craves.
Gore finished first, ahead of his main rival, George W. Bush of Exeter but the Jury of Appeals declared Bush the winner since he led on the biggest hills.
It is called Capital Hill for a reason. If you lead at the top of the hill you win.

Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
