For what by whom?
You are still a jerk, even though you had my post deleted.
Wikipedia:
" Three of Derek Turnbull's notable marathons include the New York Marathon in 1990 placing 1st for his age group 60-69 in a time of 2:41.21. Derek also placed first for the London Marathon, 2:41.57 in 1992 in the 65-69 age category. However his fastest marathon time in the 60+ age group was at the Alaska marathon in 2:38.46 in 1987"
Turnbull was faster too.
You can hype Pilcher, but he isn't even close.
" Derek Turnbull was a Southland farmer who set his first record in world masters competitions in 1977, aged 51. He went on to set 25 age-group world records and win 28 World Masters Games gold medals"

If you know him, you would know this is typical. Quite opposite of someone like Whitlock
I don't know a thing about this guy, but doesn't come across as someone needing to be smacked down on a message board.
Why does everyone have to be torn down? He's a heck of a runner.

Well, you're calling Hillary crooked, so you engage in tearing people down as well.
Ask your self why you enjoy tearing people down. How many people do you tear down on a daily basis.
So 2:38:46 is the age 60 marathon record for U.S. soil.
You have to be fast in youth and quit exercising for decades to have a shot at these old records.

I know Brian. Know him well. He's a good guy. And he's incredibly respectful of his running and racing peers--why he added a huge list of the runners in his own age group who've beaten him or have the potential to beat him when he shared the RW story on Facebook.
I don't know Ed that well. I've spoken to him for a few hours, did a long interview with him one time. And he, also, seems like a good guy.
You, Hrunner, I don't know at all. Except that you're obviously the type of person who responds to a runner's long quest--and all the training, recovery from setbacks, and discipline required--to set records by posting cheap insults on a message board thread. That doesn't speak well of your character. But if I knew you, like you claim to know Brian, I suspect that I'd know that this is typical of the type of person you are.
Derek Turnbull still holds the 65-69WR at 2:41:57, 34:42 10K, 16:38 5K
Martin Rees still holds the 50-54WR at 14:53 for 5K
He has run a 1:11:32 Half-marathon, 32:54 road 10K at age 60.
Yoshihisa Hosaka has the 60-64WR at 2:36:30 marathon
Titus Mamabolo has the 50-54WR at 2:19:29 marathon (which broke the record of Jack Foster of NZ at 2:20:28)
Ayele Seteng has the 55-59WR at 2:19:32
Ed Whitlock has the... (We do not have time for all of Ed's records.)
All of these guys (and Brian Pilcher) are incredible.
However...
Mr. Bernard Lagat at 40-45WR of 3:54.91 mile, 13:06.78 5k, and 27:48 road 10k is here now.
Everyone should WATCH OUT.
OK?
OK man. It's all about getting real uncomfortable.
Hillary being crooked is a fact, whether or not your small brain can comprehend that. Thanks for playing!
Haha, the insults bit is bit rich coming from you Pete, although a bit mild compared to this (whatever you on before you must off now):
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=7142760&page=2Yeah, Sean Wade and Brian Pilcher, they know how to get uncomfortable.
You youngsters could learn something from that.

Kind of apples and oranges I would say.
And besides, she called me deplorable first.
Yes, Kettle meet pot, you've certainly put me in my place--pointing out that I've twice now stuck up for my hard-working masters peers when they were the targets of insults by anonymous LetsRun trolls looking to disparage their accomplishments. I'll go hide someplace now, try shake off the shame I feel from your bright spotlight on my hypocrisy. Because it's exactly the same: Hitting back at some anonymous d-bag (look in the mirror if you're not sure whom I'm referencing) for insulting some of the best guys in the sport and being the anonymous d-bag who insults those guys for no other reason than ... well, for whatever reason it is that guys like you feel that need. What is the reason, anyway? Seriously, I'd really like to know. A guy trains years, suffers through numerous setbacks, never gives up, and finally reaches a hard-fought goal ... then gets the finger-nail clipping of publicity that goes along with it. And guys like you just can't take it. Can't let it happen without pissing all over the accomplishment. I mean, seriously, what the heck is going on there?
By the way: Congrats, Brian, if you're reading this. It's amazing what you've gone through to accomplish performances like this. Keep up the great work!
Here is the thing, I never said pilcher wasn't a great runner - no doubt he is. A great runner can either be a somewhat modest, cool person or a huge ego that is trying to compensate for their own feelings of inadequacy. Brian is one of the latter. Sadly, in his local community one of the most unliked guys. And yes socal Pete even the biggest dbags have some friends... if you are one of those to pilcher, more power to you. Either way has nothing to do with his talent or hard work
Word on the street: Pilcher is a backdoor Santa.
You fellas need to lighten up and stop taking yourselves so seriously.
Hope he's being tested here. Like another Eddy H. He will do anything to get ahead.
