Have you ever made a grand romantic gesture? How did it go?

I went on a couple dates with a girl and it went well. I figured she liked me based on how it was going and we kissed. Somewhat surprisingly, the day following our second date she told me she "really think we'd be better as friends." in a text. We have communicated since then, but the friendship does not seem to be happening. I am not some meek guy that this happens to often, and she does have legitimate reason to not jump into a relationship. But lately I have been thinking that if I don't do something she will be out of my life entirely.

I have an idea for a big romantic gesture that she would like, but I figure the failure rate is pretty high here. My intentions are good too, as I am just trying to keep seeing her and not trying to sleep with her or full-on date her.

What is wrong with you? She didn't feel a connection and told you she wants to be friends. Reason friendship isn't happening? She probably didn't have a good time and isn't really interested. She probably this you via text and tried to soften the blow because 'you're not a meek guy' . That reads to me as you come on to strong and probably were creeping her out.

How are your intentions good? Friends don't make giant romantic gestures. You end your question with 'not full on date her'. Why would you go overboard for someone just to keep seeing them but not full on date? I hope you are a troll, if not you seem like a creepy guy who can't take no for an answer. If you weren't on a running board, I'd assume the chick was afraid you'd turn violent.

We met at a party she was beautiful, a former Miss West Virginia I later find out. I walked her home. The conversation is easy and filled with laughter.

I say for our first date tomorrow dress up we are going to a fancy-pants restaurant. The kind where each person has their own waiter who opens the napkin and puts it on your lap for you.

I pick her up in a limo, wine dine the whole nine yards.

After dinner I tell the driver to take us to the horse drawn carriage rides in Central Park. The carriage driver stops at the terrace overlooking Bethesda Fountain where the limo chauffer has set up two chairs a white covered table with Champagne on ice in one of those wine cooler stands next to it. Really what needs to be asked and no one has asked is what do you mean by a big romantic gesture? Yes I changed the wording. Grand romantic gesture sounds pretty #+%%*# #*#*#*%%^. I mean really }*##*}* - 5)@)*#. Grand? Is that intended as satire or trolling?

Can't give you advice as many people could have different notions as to what a big romantic gesture is, what a gesture is, what is romantic. This is an anonymous forum so why don't you fork over some more detail. I mean how f}*}^}** #^}*#!!!

These lame relationship posts are always so vague on this #^}*{*} forum that they serve as nothing more than creative writing prompts for anonymous users to express their subconscious feelings and frustrations. All of which is almost wholly #*}^}# irrelevant since we have no contexts from which to interpret the textual frustrations.

Also we need more context on your dating. Is this casual dating with someone you had never known prior? How did the dates and kiss go? And how can you have strong feelings for someone you've hung out with three or four times? Context is everything in relationships! There are rules sure but they are all context dependent. People talking this and that about politic rules and playing hard to get and blah blah, well it depends on your respective ages, location and setting and a bunch of other sh1t. Your subculture, socioeconomic status, Etc.

OP, I once had a similar experience. I'd seen her twice before on "unofficial" dates, and the girl was way into me. The first real date went great. I kissed her and we made out. Then she cooled off. She thought I moved too fast (lol) and she lost interest. The end, goodbye, see ya later. No romantic gesture would ever have changed her mind.

I say let it go. Who knows if it's good or bad, but you can't force this kind of thing. My mom broke it off with my dad after dating a few times. He wasn't happy about it but just let it go. Then they had a completely innocent chance meeting a few months later and he told her he had missed her and asked if she would be willing to go out again. She agreed to it and they wound up getting married a year later.

You missed the right move already. When she texted you she wanted to be friends, you should have replied that you were thinking the same thing. That during the date, you thought she would be a great friend and that you were happy that she brought it up. You'd then let her reply and let her hanging.

Women hate it when you tell them you just want to be friends. They're confused by that, why doesn't this guy want me, he doesn't like me? They usually proceed to work on making you like them.

My first couple years of college I was a nice guy and did o.k.. Second couple of years was a bad ass and got more than I ever could of dreamed of with no strings attached...treat her
