Someone had to say it.
Agreed.

are you butt-hurt because they can use their times for an easy BQ?
St. George ought to reverse the course every other year. One year downhill. Next year uphill.

That...and these sub elites claiming 10 minute PR's then trying to get into real races with these BS times.
Sub-elites with 10min p.r.'s. Then they tell about how good training was going... they expected a p.r. but not 10min... training went really well. 5 years goes by without a p.r. Then 10-15 years pass and they remember the race where it all came together.

A buddy of mine and one of the best humans you could ever meet:
http://www.thespectrum.com/story/news/2015/10/02/reese-running-four-back--back-marathons/73215328/I have a friend who ran the "world's fastest half marathon course" in 71 minutes. Then he wasn't able to break 80 minutes ever again and he was confused...
He didn't realize the Fontana Days course starts at over 2100 feet and finishes at sea level. The course record is 59:22. He still claims it's 2/3 uphill and 1/3 downhill. He's a pathological liar and Trump supporter. So I can understand the frustration of people listening to runners who set big PRs on downhill courses and then claim to be great.

Sounds like OP is butt-hurt cuz he didn't get an email today from the BAA.

Couldn't care less about BQ's.
If butthurt is the word to describe anyone who calls out cheating, then butthurt it is.
If people count PRs from Boston, why wouldn't other net downhill courses count as marathon PRs?

LMAO. There's net downhill and then there's all downhill.

To be honest...yeah! I've been working on this goal for the past two years. I missed the 'so called' cut off by just under 2 minutes last year then I missed it again by just over a minute this year. This is including the 2:09 adjustment (that's how far under the original qualifying time it was this year). I ran my time on a certified course. These scrubs are stealing from me.

Then we got these sub elites trying to get into usa champ. road races with these results. I know most don't get accepted but they have before.
I guess my biggest issue here is my jealousy towards a fb friend who actually did qualify for Boston on this course. This guy traveled across the country for this race. I'm not wrong here.

Sure, I'm largely on your side, but where do you draw the line? If you call out this group, you need to call out all non record eligible courses.

Boston has a net elevation drop of ~480' (start at 490' in Hopkinton and finish at 10'), but the drop is negated a little by the uphills in the Newton Hills.
St George drops over 5x that much, something like 2600', a half mile of vertical drop.
Boston should accept no QT's from races that have more net drop than their own race. Pretty simple solution.

I always wanted to do Fontana Days back in my prime. I had run 1:09 on a decent course and I'm curious what that would translate to.
I was training for it but never went. Knocked out a 14:16 downhill 5k by my house. I was done with real running but was still in shape so it was fun. But never would I count it as a PR
If some wealthy dude with money to burn wanted to offer $1M for a sub 2 hour marathon, it could happen at St George. All it would take is some 2:05 ish marathoner from Kenya or Ethiopia. You'd have the historical fame as being the planet's first ever sub-2 marathoner. WIth a planet-sized asterisk, of course.

LOL ... Fontana is 50 miles from sea level. That is some half marathon.
