Bend Oregon is running heaven

Jeff Browning is a top ultra guy. Seems amenable and his blog is broncobilly.com

Lots of others, including Max King if I'm current.

Summit is an awesome track/XC powerhouse that trains nearby you. Maybe you could join them for some big group workouts.

It depends on your goals and speed. There is something for almost everyone in this town.

Go to the tue night workout group (Max King is in charge and usually provides the workouts and times them)

Stop by Recharge Recovery in the "Box Factory" complex

Go to the taco run at Footzone on Wed

You will find some runners to run with

There are too many good runners in town to name them all

Women: Stephanie Howe, Renee Metevier, Lauren Fleschman, Alli Morgan, Amy Sprotson

it shouldn't be difficult to find someone to train with

Yeah, I wouldn't call Bend all that snowy. Sure, some snow falls. But it isn't like you are socked in for months.

Average annual snowfall in Bend is 33 inches. Compare that to Flagstaff at 100 inches. The average low temperature in January is 21.6F. That really isn't that bad.

Flagstaff is much higher in elevation, but I also wouldn't live there in the winter. Both are great in the warmer seasons, but I wouldn't want to live there year-round. Just my personal opinion since the OP said they've only been there June-September.

Bend can be an ice box in the winter. However it can be 10-15 degrees warmer if you drive 20 miles east into the desert and run there. Less inversion.

I came here to pee on Bend, but I looked up some data and the weather is indeed, great. Only lags in the number of sunny days. Thought it rained all winter like Eugene, but nope

The truth is it does snow in Bend and it is cold in the winter. That's part of the attraction for many. XC skiing and snowboarding close by and WAY better than Mt. Hood. For runners though, it is not running heaven in the winter. It is like Chicago in the winter.

The Northwest winter "Heaven" would probably be Sequim, WA:

Average high upper 40s and 2" or less precip..

Actually, make that year-round ideal for running. Average high of 70 in summer, hah! Is there a more moderate climate anywhere in the world?

The wind that whips Sequim nonstop is a downside, though.

I dunno, imagine there is lots of forests to run in without wind.

Bend has nicer winters than Chicago, but as a runner, it is much better if you can run mid-day in the winter. It does get cold when the sun goes down. Given the trails, the sunshine, low humidity, and relatively temperate climate - albeit with some snowfall - Bend is pretty close to running heaven.

Ain't no running Heaven that has snow when it should be summertime!!
