Wilson Kipketer is the greatest 800m runner in history. Better than Coe & Rudisha. Could not be touched in his prime. 96/97 kipketer would have won London 2012.
Discuss.

Doped to the gills, just like the other mid distance titans from the late 90s.
Rudisha ahead in most cases
Wilson Kipketer
1:41.11 (4th fastest performance ever)
Olympic Champ = 0
World Champ = 3
World Records x 5 (includes 2 indoors)
Sub 1:42 x 4
Sub 1:45 x 75
Ave 10 fastest times = 1:41.99
Win percentage 70.00% (not including heats) 63 out of 90
David Rudisha
1:40.91 WR
Olympic Champ = 2
World Champ = 2
World Records x 3
Sub 1:42 x 7
Sub 1:45 x 65
Ave 10 fastest times = 1:41.53!!
Win percentage 74.68% (not including heats) 59 out of 79
Kipketer, then Snell, then Rudisha, the Coe or Juantorena.
Times are not entirely relevant as we are comparing 3 consecutive eras. Also, % wins not that relevant as both Coe & kipketer competed at levels well below their best. Let's compare Coe 81, kipketer 97 & Rudisha 12...

Could Coe 81 or Kipketer 97 have beaten Rudisha 12 when he ran 1:40.91 if they sat on him all the way...maybe.
Could Coe or Kipketer done so leading all the way in an Olympic Final - no way.
Rudisha's run is the greatest performance (not just time) over 800m ever.
I'm jumping out of this thread now - Calculo ruins every thread with the same old same old. I'm sure this comment will be deleted.
Have fun with his rubbish.

Ryun - 1'39-mid / high
Big-Man - 1'40-flat
Wilson - 1'40-low
others who also woud dip into 1'40s behind above woud include Asbel / Bernie / Noah in their 3'26 / 3'43 / 2'11 shape
i'd also include Alf in his 1'42.87-race
cruz at worst 1'41-flat if fully rested for koln, so include him
Mal Whitfield in outrageous 21-high 440y in a 1'48+ on dirt in '40s / '50s !!!
no others
Utter garbage, Ryun might run 1:42/43 in a top tier modern race but that is a stretch. There is absolutely no way he is in the same league as Kipketer. Snell was better than Juantorena.
Lagat would struggle to go under 1:45, Ngeny was a 1:43 man maybe high 1:42 in a good race. Kiprop is a 1:43 man and that is about all he can do, he is more of a very fast runner he is not an explosive sprinter type like Makh.
Man what a load of nonsense.
1:41.09
1:41.01
1:40.91

Man, what an awesome post...thanks
that indoor WR is pretty tasty (1:42.67)

That was set in the world indoor championship. He had also run a WR in the semis.
The IAAF would only pay Kipketer the bonus on his WR run in the final.
He wanted a bonus payment for WR in semi and final.
Not sure if Juantorena might not have been the best.
Remember, they had to run 400 in lanes at that time, making it almost impossible to get a pace from a rabbit.
Watch the 1976 Olympic race.

I would expect to get paid twice as well. That's crap.
Was Juantorena also doped to the gills?

Rudisha
Best performance ever over 800m
Two Olympic golds at 800m
Fastest time ever run
Multiple world records

300 not 400, moran
If Ventolin is going with hypothetical times he needs to include T8.
Dirt track, no training,

No, it's Rudisha. He's so dominant. He has the times, records, medals, and wins. No flaws and a beautiful runner.
