This. He was like a deer in headlights in Rio, especially in the prelims. With the highs being a bit weak right now, he could easily be dominant in a few years.

If you noticed all his races prior to the Olympics he was very clean over the hurdles, but all the way through the rounds into the final he came into contact with nearly every hurdle. My guess is he succumbed to nerves a little bit and it threw off his hurdling technique and thus slowed him down. He would have won if his races were like all his previous ones.

How was he able to compete in a woman's event at the Olympics?
Only someone who didn't watch the Olympics this summer could be confused about this...
You know what Devon Allen should do...whatever HE wants to do! Not a bunch of message board geeks that have NO IDEA about why he plays football or what it means to him. SHUT UP!

Exploitation? How much do you think a hurdler that didn't make the podium is going to make as a pro? And how much do you think Adoree Jackson, who only finished 10th in the LJ at the Olympic Trials, but is one of the top cover guys in the NCAA and slated to be a 1st round draft choice, is going to make? The NFL minimum is $450K.
Only 100m guys make much money in track. The USA won 6 medals in Rio in the hurdles, and our men's and women's WR holders and Olympic medalists Dawn Harper and David Oliver weren't even there. How much do you think one more hurdler who does not have a medal or a WR is actually worth?
He's ran 13.1 or faster twice. Is that consistent?
I think he did that on his home track....For an international hurdler you have to perform consistently on the "circuit".
He should focus on football.

Wow, everyone on LRC is in love with this guy.
He is a consistent 13.1x hurdler.
That will keep him diamond league and big meets.
But unless there is some big jump in performance, he's not winning much.
There are too many guys a little better.
If he loves football, go for it.
"He's not winning much?" Uh, in the only two track seasons he's had since high school, he was undefeated (until finishing 5th at the Olympics). That's 2 USA national championships against all the pros. Best in the USA.

He was not going to be a Pro Football player.
1) Is that the criteria? What if he just likes playing football?
2) So you are an expert on football and a general manager?
In short, it is his decision to make. He could win gold in 2020 and he could also not get any better. The hurdles are a tricky thing just ask Harrison.
Ginn agrees to five-year deal worth more than $13 million with Dolphins
The Arizona Cardinals signed WR Ted Ginn to a three year $9.75 million contract with $3.25 million in fully guaranteed salary,
Ted Ginn Jr. signed a 2 year, $4,200,000 contract with the Carolina Panthers, including a $1,700,000 signing bonus, $1,700,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2,100,000
Greed
Because running isn't nearly as fun or prosperous as football.

Seeing how he's been hurt with a pretty severe injury twice in three seasons wouldn't his draft stock go down? More like a 2nd-4th round pick? And how long would he last in the league?
He'll have a 5-10 year career as a pro hurdler and as NCAA and national champion would stand to make a pretty good contract, plus prize and appearance money on the circuit.
That's easy....$$$$$$
He will make more in one season in the NFL than a lifetime on the track.

Pro football is the criteria. The only reason a sane person in his position would pick a murderous sport like football over track is potential for money. Well, money and women.
I'm mean at our school our track guys did alright but the football players absolutely slayed. Pretty sure the same would be true for pro football v pro track as well.
I do think he could pull $1-1.5 million in career earnings in football and still be young enough to hurdle. Hell, he says he could do both; don't doubt him. For him football shape and track shape are the same. Not like those fat running backs that are too heavy to sprint near a world class level.
too fat? lol. Bet they'd knock you out in a pair of flip flops. Stick to your 100 MPW runner dude.

So, your going to count HS and college as winning on a global scale?
Someone that wins a couple of US champs but nothing else will not be making big bucks in track.
His performances so far show that he can stay in the circuit, but that is it.
See, I told you LRC was in love with this guy!

At this point he is going to be a late round flyer pick or a priority free agent. I hope he can retain his wheels after a second flat tire. But if he retains the speed he will be a teams training camp(if he wants to be).
