the iaaf report says he was maimed by strong winds, which indicates he probably wouda gone < 59 even off suicidal 10k
that 10k was even worse than thought
13'43 / 13'32 !!!
he started off at 27'26 ! pace which was far too quick as it's 57'53 pace & this guy looked to be slivering handful of secs off WR, not demolishing it
the 2nd 5k was utterly suicidal !!!
13'32 !!! is not only 27'04 !!! pace but 57'07 pace !!!
despite this wrecking 2nd 5k, he still wouda gone < 59 if not for winds !!!
even if he had just run 1st 10k at even pace, he probably couda gone 27'10 conserving energy for another 10.1k to go !!!
zedster ran 58'23 off 27'53 split !!!
this guy is probably in 26'30 / 26'35 track shape & that doesn't look generous !!!
it really is unfortunate there are no $$$ 10k track races
zedster ran 58'23 off 27'53 split !!!
he ran a 26'37pb in a race he scolded for being far too slow early on & he actually lost the sprint to some kenyan in 26'35
it was somewhat his fault he didn't take charge early on, as reading between the lines, he was looking for ~ 26'20 / 26'25 at worst
zedster looked at worst same 10k shape in berlin-'09 when he nearly broke the kennster for some tantalising seconds but coudn't quite break the elastic & ran ~ 26'50 & he was running serious 1/2Ms at time
bottom line, for proper 10k guys from outset, not 5k guys moving up, 10k & 1/2 M IMO are related events
a rough estimate prelim for current shape in either
58'30 = 26'25
