If you're a female you're screwed. If you're a 30-40 year old male, in good shape, and successful, you're in the prime of your life.

All the things OP lists are only true for some people. For some people none are true...you can be healthy and quite fit at 30, making good money with good work/life balance, and especially if you have no kids you can have quite a bit of time and cash to do as you please. And even if you do have kids you could be having the time of your life with a young family, and a young and quite possibly still very hot wife.
Perfect age for marathon PRs.
I've taken a much different approach than most here. As I got older I decided that running for ten hours a week wasn't worth my time any longer. I rarely run anymore, but do very short workouts of other varieties to stay in shape. I have more time to dedicate to family and other activities I enjoy.
It sucks to be over 12.
Ages 10-12 are the sweet spot in life.
School is no pressure at that point.
You aren't concerned about getting laid.
No problems with relationships.
No rent or mortgage. You have no bills or responsibilities at all, really.
You can feed yourself and do most things that you want on your own.
Your main focus is to play.
You just need a ride now and then.

If you are 40 something and your definition of a pretty good life is attracting a variety of 20 somethings you really have no idea what a pretty good life is. If you are 40 something and you are making a life and family with the love of your life, you are much closer to living a pretty good life.
Having a family would be the worst thing in the world for me. I appreciate that some people want kids, but that is not for everyone.
30's are great. Girls in their 20's actually want to date you because you're mature and wealthy. Physically you're probably in better shape because you have the maturity to know that diet and exercise are important. Prime spot of my dating life was 30-32 and I could have kept it going till 40 had I not married someone awesome.

And I applaud you for making that thoughtful decision. Some people just should not be entering into parenthood. Too many disinterested parents as is. (Too many inept dog owners too.)

Depends on what you want with being 50. I am 50. I don't feel like what I thought 50 would feel like. Still lots to do in this life. Still young enough to do those things. Looking forward to being retired in as soon as 5 more years.
Your middle-aged or a senior for most of your life. Make the most of it.
I am 34 and get much more enjoyment out of coaching others to their goals than actually racing myself.
It is much more rewarding putting your effort into making others better than consistently worrying about your own training.
I have had my time in the sun and it was a lot of fun but there is nothing wrong with changing your goals it not make everything about yourself anymore.
I just turned 49 and my last kid moved out to go to college.
So let's see...I have all the money I need. I can train basically all I want. I am still fairly fast (17:13 for 5k). I am married so I am never lonely. Live in a great place. Own my own business so I can set my hours and can't be fired.
So um no...this doesn't suck.

This made me chuckle. Most 30 year olds are wealthy? Most 30 year olds have a net worth less than zero. I think you meant to say as a 30 year old you have a job and money that you can spend foolishly instead of saving. Right?

Funny, I just turned 65 and said the same thing to my hot young GF. No responsibilities!
We're going to Australia in November , the start of summer down under. Crikey, well go surfing on Bondi Beach and down the local beer and wine after.
Cheers mate, you've another 30 years in your cubicle and Social Security will be broke by then. Thanks Obama.
Yup, because Obama passed SS. Sucks to be old and stupid huh?

You must accept the fact that you are not young anymore. You are a fully grown adult, with responsibilities, and very little time for play.
Not at all - I ran very respectable times until my mid-30's.
Now I'm mid-50's - wealthy and healthy! Everything has been paid off for years, including our kids' college. Life couldn't be any better!
Enjoy the time in your 20's my friend, but plan for your future NOW.
Just wondering what people are considering wealthy here?
I am wondering if I can count myself in that category yet.
24 hours in a day leave a lot of time for play along with other things, even after 30.
I'm a little late, but OP is definitely that loser Jamin. I wish I could have gotten here sooner to warn everyone. Such a shame that he got so many non-malicious replies.
45. unemployed. play disc golf all day and look at 20 year old women in jean shorts at the park. inbetween i post on Letsrun
Hey dude, some of us actually spent our post college years working hard. Eight years is plenty of time to save and invest.
