Back to the random front-page promoted joke and life advice threads and the running, sprinting, cycling, throwing and doping news that makes up LetsRun.
Actually I was going to be done with my LetsRun addiction until this, an actual positive forum thread, popped up. Funny how a positive thread about a stunning RUNNING accomplishment never made the front. I'm out.
I didn't want to be dramatic, but I was thinking the same thing. This pulled me in day after day (and many times a day). Such a wonderful story about a low key runner. I'd like to think Let's Run sees the value of such stories, but I doubt it. I'll probably just fade away.

Exactly. The Young Fraud Investigation is still linked at the top of the homepage. Pete actually does what Young tried to fake doing and there is no mention on the front page. (Interestingly, the European 24-hour Championship is mentioned on the front page -- as is caster semenya winning some MTV award.)
This guy Nick, a young reporter for the Bergen Record/North Jersey.com,
jumped in with us at the GWB entrance yesterday, carrying a pretty big pack, intent on getting an up-close look at the story.
He wasn't able to get to Pete on the Bridge, so he ended up interviewing me (which, again, was hysterically funny), but he had to cut me out of the final piece for space limitations. (Don't blame him at all, he eventually got a shot to interview Pete and Charlie, which was obviously a hell of a lot more interesting.)
Super-nice guy, busting his ass to get this story. Ended up making it all the way downtown, even though he told me he really wasn't in shape for it, and had just planned to go 5 or so.
I think he did a really nice job with the piece:

Yeah, it's really sad. If the Brojos had even a little concern and judgment, this could be a really great forum, with just a few simple adjustments.
Instead, they allow it to be a freaking toilet --and really seem proud to keep it that way.
God, what a waste.

Pete has done 163.68 miles in 24 hours, which is about 1 mile more than the winner at the European 24 hour Championship.
The LRC people are probably not even aware that Pete has broken the record.
They are busy watching football games, baseball games, and a debate.
Congrats to Pete! Black page, brojos!
Just out of curiosity, what did Pete do today? Besides sleep, of course. Did he stay overnight in NYC? Did he do a token run in Central Park, or take the day completely off? He sure deserves more recognition than what he got. A Today Show appearance would have been nice.
It took a day, but Pete's record is the Main Story and the quote of the day.
Thanks Brojos.

I see that Pete also has a charity for kids... to run 100 miles during the school year to fight obesity That is an interesting coincidence.
http://100mileclub.com/Pete's crew was incredible:
https://www.facebook.com/petesfeetaa/posts/806234006145655:0https://www.facebook.com/petesfeetaa/Video of the finish again:
https://www.facebook.com/charlie.engle.12/videos/713881452095749/Kudos... Also to Charlie Engle for improving the process, acting as mentor and confidant, and inspiring Pete for this impressive effort.
Charlie said it at the end today: Such a run is a solo effort. Meaning the logistics of coordinating multiple runners with different needs and ideas is much, much more difficult.
Very much congrats to Pete, what an inspiring and legitimate effort!
Careful to all of you falling for Charlie Engle's charms. You know he was a crack addict, went to prison for mortgage fraud, and is a chronic self-promoter that screwed Marshall Ullrich (see Marshall's book -- and Marshall himself seems like an even-keeled guy) with false promises? The first half hour of the 'finish' video is of Charlie himself.
Stop falling for his self-promotion.
Go, Pete!
Markus crawl back into your troll hole. Such a jealous little boy you are.

Regardless of who that guy is, he's correct in his assessment of Charlie. Dude is clearly trying to make this about himself and it isn't about him at all. Go away Charlie.

Ha, ha that is funny.
To bad that I didn't wrote that.
Pete is an amazing young man. Came to Nebraska Run Guru Elite with a chip the size of Nebraska on his shoulder and a point to prove. Not "fast" enough for other local clubs, he embraced our giant slayer mentality and now is a world record holder. Giddyup Mate!

He did get interviewed by Bill Hemmer on Fox News. The video is embedded in this article:

The New York Times finally has an article on Mr. Pete Kostelnick:
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/26/well/move/how-to-run-across-the-country-faster-than-anyone.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fwell&action=click&contentCollection=well®ion=rank&module=package&version=highlights&contentPlacement=1&pgtype=sectionfront&_r=0Hey, New York Times.
Why did it take so long to publish the article on Pete?
Thanks Ackley!
