Hey. Did you ever get that eviction mess worked out?

People are really paying $170 to run this marathon? That is unbelievable.
Whatever your performance, train schedules, you know you'll go home DEVASTATED.

I decided to let it go, yes. Hard to accept I got royally screwed over for no reason, but my time is not worth it.

I ended up missing a BQ by only a few minutes, is there any precedent for correcting a time from something like that, or am I SOL? I have GPS evidence of being stopped for 6 min.
Explains why BQs went from 22% last year to 14% this year.

Well, my odds just went up! I made it under by BQ time by almost 2 minutes at the ChicagoLand Last Chance for Boston Marathon so this train dropping Via's BQ numbers by 8% is a big help to me. Thanks train!
Mike Rossi blew his load on her last year

Even after a year it still baffles me that the Rossi wackos are still insulting Barb when she was just following orders and the DQ would only have been symbolic anyway.
It wasn't her decision and the DQ would have done nothing except give the wackos something else to taunt Rossi with, yet they continue their infantile insults.
It is 100% the RD who is ultimately responsible for deciding who gets DQ'd. I'm not sure who you think told her she wasn't allowed to DQ him, but it was her call. It also would likely have resulted in his Boston finish being removed.
I am not supporting the Rossi "wackos", plenty of insane stuff on there, but about the only thing they were right about was that the decision to not DQ him was a terrible one. I think it did show incompetence, just like this whole train incident.
Millions of American men and women died for your right for ghe freedom to be stopped for 6 minutes in a marathon. Which brach did you serrve in? When? Where?
In the Grand Rapids Marathon in 2014 a train went thru the Marathon (per my friend running in it), she just made it across the tracks and ended up BQ in 3:29:00, but her training partner was about 2 minutes behind her (at that time)and had to wait 4-5 minutes and missed qualifying by about 6 minutes.
I never saw the news or anyone report on it however. I would be pissed if it happened to me and would demand my money back.
Good Lord there are some entitled people in this world.
It's a charity marathon, things happen, sometimes things don't go as planned, get over it.
Would I be annoyed if I had to stop for a train? Sure, but is it really causing a huge deal over?
Been there, Bridge to Bridge 5K 2007 in Portland... An Amtrak train cut in front of a group about 5 - 6 runners at about the 2 mile mark. Cost about 8 seconds; but the hard part, the flow is broken...

Exactly. It's VIA, it's for charity. You don't even need to run the course if you want a BQ so bad. The only two things that matter at VIA are: (1) the RD gets paid; and (2) it's for charity. Don't do VIA if running is so important to you, it's for charity and the people who make their livelihood off the event. Stupid selfish hobby joggers.
You would have gotten over that train if you cared about getting a BQ.
Don't worry. Barb is getting paid. It's her business to get paid. Cheaters and trains be damned, she will get paid.

Hi Barb
Not sure if this was mentioned since I didn't read the entire thread, but a train disrupted a marathon in Columbus, Indiana in 2014

Best get a contract next time.
I thought you said you had the time and money to put this guy down. No?
The reason for the train was that Kip Litton needed to board the train and get to the finish line.
New posts this morning on their FB. Let's see how long it takes for McKeever to delete them.
Wondering when a statement will be made acknowledging the train crossing that held up so many runners on your course creating a physical and mental hurdle that was difficult to recover from. It wasn't just the several minutes runners had to wait at the crossing, but also the fact they were once again piled upon one another at a place in the course where they were meant to spread out. Having that many runners packed onto a two rut gravel trail makes it incredibly difficult to break out and regain lost time. Not to mention the mental struggle of being way behind that early in the game. Runners trained for months, sacrificed much, and spent lots of money to attend your Boston Qualifying Race only to watch their dreams slip by with the passing of that train. Surely when planning such a large event like the Via Marathon, the race committee plans and coordinates such things, no? And now no acknowledgment, explanation, or apology. Your silence actually speaks volumes...
And another:
I find it unacceptable that you haven't issued any kind of statement about the train stoppage. Either that you are looking into it and possible solutions or just an apology.
