Solution. Don't run marathons that get stopped by trains.
Or become a hobo.
There is plenty of clearance under a train car for a person to slip underneath. It's also possible to get through the gap between cars by jumping onto the car, sliding through, and jumping off the other side. You didn't lose 6 minutes because of the train.
You lost 30 seconds because of the train, and 5:30 because you lack the agility necessary to navigate a technical course.
San Antonio RnR had a train-delay a few years back - 2011 or 2012 maybe? I know they gave us all "adjusted times" but doubt they were good for anything - I just ran the half so didn't really care - but it was annoying.
Poor Via. Used to have such a good rep, and the last few years have not been reflective of the past history. Sounds like they need a new RD or a new something...
You've been trolled fool.
Yeah, I got caught in that same delay... I was told my time would be adjusted by 4:40 (should be 6 minutes) I still haven't seen the updated times. Race was a f*cking disaster. Buses got us to the start line with less than 20 minutes before the gun, no water stops in 3 miles stretches, bikers using the towpath... Amateur hour. Live and learn I guess. F--- you Lehigh Valley.
Put it this way- if you didn't stop for the train then you wouldn't be running Boston either. You'd look more like a pizza topping
Maybe that 6 min break gave you a chance to avoid DNF

Was it a midnight train to Georgia?
If that is the actual email from the race director, that is truly crazy. The train did stop runners and some for a significant amount of time. I realize it would be vey difficult to adjust people's times but you can't just make the train disappear and say it didn't happen. What an insult! It was a truly dangerous situation and it would not have been a surprise if someone got injured. It is not the race director's fault but it is very insensitive to try to make like it didn't happen. You acknowledge the situation and apologize for it and try to not let it happen again.
I heard the train kept rollin' all night long.

It is a statement from the race. Doesn't come as a surprise as the race and race director in question have a history of failing to acknowledge it when obvious things happen in their race. They've released statements like this before...
I heard that the RD speculated that the video might have been faked by a couple dozen runners who just missed BQs.

What email are you talking about? If it's the one that starts out "After a thorough review of the available evidence in relation to a train's participation in the 2016 Lehigh Valley Health Network Via Marathon", you do realize it's a spoof of the Rossi response, right? "a train's participation"? You honestly thought that was serious?
The train was real. That response wasn't.
To be fair, you didn't specify what you were referring to.
I heard the train was crazy.
The train covered more of that marathon's route than Mike Rossi. Maybe the train ought to run Boston now too.
